  What was supposed to be a long-overdue self-care moment turned into a stressful and upsetting experience due to the lack of proper training demonstrated by Contour’s staff. After scheduling an appointment two weeks in advance, I walked in for the first time to what initially felt like a pleasant environment, only to meet a young hairdresser who, after about five minutes of discussing possible hair changes and examining my hair, took pictures and went to the back, saying she would be right back. When she returned, after looking at the pictures she took and based on her own opinion along with two other professionals, she said that I had lice and therefore could not have my hair treated, though she would be happy to recommend a lice clinic. At that point, I could just have walked away accross the street and have done my hair at another salon. However, completely astonished and deeply concerned, especially because I have a young baby who stays with me at home,— something I had previously mentioned to her — I immediately informed my husband and went home to pick my family up to go to the clinic to prove how absurd that allegation was. There I spoke to an actual specialist who, after carefully examining my scalp confirmed I had no lice, and was also shocked that I had gone through that experience at a hair salon whose staff could not differentiate dry shampoo residue from lice. After my entire morning was disrupted by this situation, I contacted the salon seeking to speak with management to explain what had happened and express my concerns regarding the staff’s training for this kind of assessment. The front desk said the manager wouldn’t be available until the following week and was quick to clarify that there would be no “compensation” — even though I had never asked for any — because “they hadn’t taken my money.” And she was absolutely right. No form of compensation would give me back the valuable time I lost — time that could have been spent with my family or simply taking care of myself on a weekend. And they certainly will not be receiving any of my money if this is the level of staff training and customer service they choose to provide. Rather than feeling like a careful and professional health precaution, the situation came across as a rushed and inaccurate judgment made by inexperienced staff.

  Lexie did a great job giving me a new style. She is keenly attentive and knowledgeable in cutting and styling shoulder length to shorter hair styles. I was very pleased with her knowledge of texturing hair.
