I am extremely disappointed with my experience. I spent over 6 hours in the salon and paid more than $200 for a color service. I brought an inspiration photo and understood that, because my hair was previously colored and darker to begin with, the exact result might not be achievable in one appointment. I was not expecting perfection or a platinum blonde result.
However, the issue is not that the color is slightly different from the inspiration photo the issue is that the final result is very orange, uneven, and does not resemble what I requested. The front and back of my hair are completely different colors, and the color placement is nothing like the inspiration photo I provided.
In addition, my hair feels significantly more damaged and dry than it did before the appointment. After expressing my concerns, I was offered a re-tone, but I did not feel comfortable having additional color services performed. No refund or partial refund was offered.
I have attached photos of my inspiration picture and the actual result so others can make their own judgment. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this service.

**I WAS IN THE CHAIR FROM 1:00 P.M. UNTIL 7:00 P.M.**
My appointment was with Hannah
I was taken back at 1:05pm for my 1:00 p.m. appointment.
When I called ahead to make My appointment I was told by Ly that she did a good job. I arrived at my appointment with my previous formula and color name. I did advise that I wished to brighten up my highlights. Advised I needed a highlight low light job. After Hannah going out and back more than a couple of times we agreed on colors for my low light and highlight. She began my foils at 2:00 p.m. since I was turned around and you can't really see what they're using. I happen to look back at a point and realize that she was only putting high light foils in my hair and was moving EXTREMELY slow. I asked why she wasn't placing the lowlights and highlights opposite each other like every other foil job I've had for the last 10 years and she advised that everyone does it different and that she places the High lights and then goes back and places the low lights. By the time she placed HALF of my highlight foils missing areas around my face and leaving a 3/4 inch part of my darker hair down the middle of my head It had been 2 hours, 4:00 p.m.( NOTE I HAVE BEEN SITTING IN THE CHAIR FOR 4 HOURS AT THAT POINT)
I advised her at that point to skip the lowlights and ask her if she could have someone else come over and help her. She told me that no one would be able to help her but that she would go ask. At that point an older lady came over and spoke with me and advise that everyone was busy and that no one would be able to help her. It took her approximately another hour to complete the other half which weren't very many foils of my highlight. When she completed that and took me back to the shampoo area I just happened to notice the clock straight in front of me and it was 5:00 p.m. when we left that area it was 5:30pm. I will say and I advised her as well that the shampoo and scalp massage was great. During this 30 minute time frame she did also put toner on my hair and that had to sit for approximately 10 minutes.
We stepped back up to her chair it was still approximately 5:30 and it took an hour to cut my hair. Doing our conversations I found out she had only been with the salon for a year supposedly she'd worked at a place where she only did haircuts for 2 years. The fact she took an hour to do my haircut and watching her cut my hair was like watching a first day beginner cutting someone's hair.
I asked for a long bob haircut also showed her a picture of where I have had that done previously. I left the salon with a short bob.
I'm very disappointed in JCPenney and the salon for not having training professionals on staff. Honestly, while she was doing my foils I could tell that it was something she had not done very often but I really was expecting more from the haircut since she had been cutting hair for 2 years supposedly. They had quoted me $140. Dollars for the complete job which also included the low light which I never got and when I talked to the receptionist up front she said that that would still stay on there. She used a 20% coupon which brought my charges down to $112. I'm embarrassed to say because this is way less than what I typically would have tipped but I actually gave the young lady a $20 tip. I spent 7 hours there my hair color is incorrect and my haircut is wrong. They should have never charged me anything because I didn't get what I asked for and I wasted 7 hours of my time.
I am also disabled. I had nothing to eat, drank two very small bottles of water.
On my way out of the Sears building I stepped over to a lady who actually happened to be the manager on duty. Her name is Misty. She very quickly assisted with getting my information and details of the appointment.
She advised that Melissa the salon manager would call me as soon as possible. Thus far I have not received a phone call from Melissa. I'm hoping as soon as she gets the written message from Misty that she will make every effort to get in touch with me.

I am extremely disappointed with the service at JCPenney Hair Salon. I brought my 8-year-old daughter in with long, healthy hair and clearly requested that only 3 inches be trimmed. Instead, the stylist cut off approximately 6–7 inches and left her hair severely uneven. Some areas are as short as 1–2 inches due to improper thinning.
Before the haircut, I specifically asked if her hair could be thinned in a way that would still allow it to be braided smoothly for school without short pieces sticking out. The stylist assured me this would not be an issue. Unfortunately, that was not the case—her hair now sticks out unevenly and can no longer be braided neatly.
I contacted the salon and spoke with the manager, Melissa, and even returned so she could see the damage firsthand. Despite this, there was no apology or offer of a refund after I spent $173 on the service, tip and recommended hair products.
This experience was unacceptable, and my daughter is understandably very upset. I would strongly caution others, especially parents, before trusting this salon with their child’s hair.
