  I’ve always enjoyed shopping at Lush in Kenwood Towne Centre. The staff is usually warm and welcoming—my daughter even loves stopping in to say hello. I love the products, and I’ve always had great experiences, which is why this visit was so disappointing. I stopped in after a long day because I wanted to buy a product I’d fallen in love with. Another customer and I were told it was sold out and that only the tester remained. As I was leaving, I noticed two of the products sitting in an open display on the sales floor. In a store where products are openly displayed and customers are encouraged to pick things up, smell them, and try them, I had no reason to think the item wasn’t available for purchase. I grabbed one and pointed the other out to the customer, who was excited to find one and purchased it before me. When I got to the register, the cashier immediately questioned where I got the item in a cold, accusatory tone. After I explained that I found it on the sales floor, he refused to sell it to me because it was apparently meant to stay with a gift set. When I pointed out that he had just sold the exact same item to the customer ahead of me, he replied that he “shouldn’t have sold hers either,” but that he only did because I had pointed it out to her. I don’t work at Lush, so I had no way of knowing the item wasn’t supposed to be sold separately. From a customer’s perspective, it appeared to be part of the merchandise on display. What bothered me most wasn’t that I couldn’t buy the product—it was being treated as though I had done something wrong and being talked down to over a simple misunderstanding. A simple explanation, a little kindness, or even an apology for the confusion would have gone a long way. I truly hope this was just an isolated experience because every other visit to this location has been excellent.

  I love this Lush. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming without being pushy. Some of them even remember my toddler when she comes in and she’s always happy to see them. When I’ve been given free samples or suggestions they’re always excellent picks and get me hooked on some new product. The products always look very organized and beautiful. Everything is always clean. I’ve tried switching to different brands that are closer to my house and it just doesn’t have the same goodness that the experience of going to Lush has.
