I went in for a simple exchange because the foundation shade I originally purchased was too light for my skin. The checkout associate I dealt with was unhelpful and seemed to have an attitude throughout the interaction, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was told that the shade I needed was completely sold out and that it couldn’t be ordered in-store, so I was only offered a refund. However, when I got home, I found that the exact shade I was looking for was readily available online, including on Sephora’s own website. That left me confused and frustrated, as it seemed like more could have been done to assist me. I understand that inventory can vary by store, but I would have appreciated a more helpful and solution-oriented approach—such as offering to order the item or at least explaining my options more clearly. Customer service should feel supportive, especially for something as simple as a shade exchange.
