Came in to browse some old favs and had a wonderful experience interacting with everyone on the floor, grabbed a bunch of stuff, and when I went to pay for my $105 purchase, a manager was called over to check that my $100 bill was legit. She did the little marker test on it, said "yeah we can take this" ... then hesitated ... and changed her mind. When I asked for clarification it had something to do with the subjective quality of the bill. I went to hand her a different bill and she said she couldn't accept it because she had already rejected the first one. I totally understand store policy, not her policy, but then she suggested I go to the bank of america across the street and withdraw new bills?? It made no sense. How would that correct for the store policy, considering you just told me you can't accept my money? I understand she was trying to do the right thing, but these bills came straight from a BOA in williamsburg, and right after this weird interaction the same bill was accepted (after being checked in the same way) at a trader joes down the street, as were the rest of the bills from the same withdrawal. Respectfully, if you have (understandably) tight policies about accepting cash at your location - the staff's gotta be competent in handling cash.
