Rowan is all about ears. We offer a fun, celebratory and safe piercing experience for everyone. All our piercings are done by licensed nurses and all our products are hypoallergenic. When we say “Piercing for All”, we mean it. Everybody is invited to this ear party.
I came across Rowan online and was really drawn to the concept of having my baby’s ears pierced by nurses. I thought it was a wonderful idea and expected the experience to feel more personalized, reassuring, and special.
When I arrived with my baby, I was greeted by someone at the front desk who directed me to make an appointment. She spoke very quietly, and I had to ask her to speak louder because both my husband and I were having difficulty hearing her. We followed her through the earring selection process and then to the piercing chair. I asked if she would be the person performing the piercing, and she said yes.
During the process, the nurse was very quiet, which made the experience feel a bit awkward. I was already focused on preparing myself and my baby for the piercing, so having some reassurance and communication from the person performing the procedure would have made a big difference. Another piercer nearby was speaking to my baby, encouraging her, and trying to make her comfortable, which I appreciated. However, the nurse who performed the piercing did not really interact with my baby. I only learned that the person performing the procedure was Nurse Ash after seeing her name indicated on the certificate/pamphlet provided at the end of the appointment.
During the procedure, Nurse Ash dropped some earrings and tools on the floor and appeared a bit frazzled, which made me feel uneasy. At that point, I had some concerns, but I decided to continue. The piercing itself was done fine, but the overall experience did not feel like what I expected from a place with such a unique concept. I did not feel much warmth, reassurance, or empathy toward my baby during or after the procedure. The other nurses were very kind, but my specific experience with Nurse Ash felt impersonal.
I also was not given much guidance about aftercare beyond a pamphlet with instructions. The biggest disappointment came afterward when my baby vomited three times after the piercing. Unfortunately, the location I visited was closed, and I was unable to contact a nurse for reassurance or guidance. One of the reasons I chose Rowan was because of the nursing aspect, so having access to that support would have been comforting.
Overall, I think Rowan has a great concept, and I can see why parents would be interested. However, based on my experience, I did not feel that the service was significantly different from a traditional piercing place. This may have just been my individual experience, but I expected more comfort, communication, and personalized care during such a meaningful moment.

I had a great experience! I went as a dad and as a family supporting my 4-year-old daughter, and we all had our ears pierced. I would certainly recommend that anyone and everyone get a piercing. They are excellent.

I went with my 5 month old for her ear piercing and I did my mid ear. The employees were very respectful and calm. Our piercing nurse was Madeline and I appreciated her understanding that I didn’t want the piercing to be low for my child. She was quick and efficient. Below are some of my observations form the visit:
There are two types of piercing available with different style of earrings for each: needle piercing that comes with one earring or device piercing that comes with a set (pair). Price range of earrings vary from $60-198 (diamond).
Earrings are inside a display but are also available on the counter for physical touch. Earrings do have a rounded back (not sure if all the earrings offer this option).
Payment- unlike other piercing stores that offer a standard rate (or a cash price)- there is tax added to the total purchase price whether it’s cash or card.
They offer an aftercare solution for $20.
Overall, I would recommend this place for babies and children. The sterile environment and kid friendly atmosphere is great for them. As for myself- I feel like I could have done my piercing at another professional piercing spot without the added tax amount to the price.

The rudest nurse works here! I can't believe he was hired to work with customers and I'm sorry for the other nice employees who have to put up with him all day. I recommend you try the Williamsburg location I guess instead.
