I am writing to share my disappointing experience with the nail spa in Tivoli Village. My attempt to cancel my subscription was met with unnecessary difficulties and dishonest communication, which only added to my frustration.
When I attempted to discuss these concerns with the manager, she was dismissive, frequently interrupted me, and failed to show any empathy or offer an apology for the service issues.
Furthermore, I have concerns regarding the actual length of the services provided. Despite paying for a one-hour session, the staff consistently spends 5–10 minutes talking before beginning the service and finishes 5–10 minutes early, resulting in only about 45 minutes of actual treatment. Given the premium pricing, this lack of transparency regarding service time is unacceptable.
I would not recommend this spa and would advise others to be cautious before committing to a subscription service here.
Update: The company owner replied to my post only to say nothing about the lack of customer service I received from his staff. My issue was not with the subscription model itself, but rather with the unprofessional customer service I encountered while attempting to cancel it.
The dismissive and unapologetic behavior I received from your management team during that process is the primary reason for my dissatisfaction. By failing to acknowledge or address the poor treatment I experienced, you have only reinforced my decision to take my business elsewhere. I have no intention of returning to this establishment.

Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience with this location. I had a 50-minute massage appointment booked and specifically requested a female massage therapist. I emailed the business to communicate that request, but never received a response.
When I arrived, I was assigned a male therapist, which made me uncomfortable given that I had specifically requested a female in writing. My time was already wasted, and instead of the situation being handled with understanding or professionalism, the owner was extremely rude and told me that I had wasted her “veteran’s time of 30 years and will be charged.”
I understand that everyone’s time is valuable, but so is the customer’s. I had communicated my request in advance and simply expected someone to acknowledge it. Had I received a response to my email, this entire situation could have been avoided.
To make matters worse, I was still charged $80 for a service I did not receive. I found this extremely frustrating and disappointing, especially given that I had made my request clear beforehand and my appointment ultimately could not be completed because I was uncomfortable with the assigned therapist.
This was not just about the appointment — it was about the lack of communication, consideration, and professionalism throughout the entire experience. I expected much better customer service and unfortunately would not recommend this location based on my experience.

The last time I came here was in May and I was massaged by Wei (Jeff), he did an amazing job working out some pain in my back and tension. I suffer with sciatica pain and he did a deep tissue massage really getting into every tissue and muscle. I felt like a completely new person by the time I left. It is August now and I will be returning tomorrow because of how great of a massage it was the first time.

I wouldn’t recommend coming here. I had a membership for about a year, but I finally had to cancel. The turnover of massage therapists is pretty crazy - I had to book with a new person almost every month, so something must be going on behind the scenes. On top of that, I had my membership on freeze, so I could use my credits. I called to cancel, they unfroze my account, charged me the membership fee, and then cancelled. I’ve emailed many times saying that I did not authorize this charge and to refund me, and no one will respond.
Frequently Asked Questions About The NOW Massage Tivoli Village
How does The NOW differ from a traditional spa?
The NOW has reimagined the approachable luxury of a neighborhood spa with high-quality massages and exclusive enhancements that offer relaxation and healing. Our goal is to offer customizable massage services without the time commitment and cost of a traditional spa.
When should I arrive for my massage?
Please aim to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled massage to permit ample time for check-in. As a courtesy to other members and guests, we must start and end each massage service at the scheduled time; accordingly, we will not be able to extend the time of your service if you arrive late.
How do I book a massage?
You can schedule an appointment online at www.thenowmassage.com, through The NOW Massage app, or by contacting the boutique directly by phone. We also welcome walk-ins, but due to high demand, we recommend scheduling in advance.
How do I cancel a service that I’ve scheduled?
A booked massage can be canceled by logging into your account on the website, through The NOW Massage app, or by calling the boutique. Please be aware of our late cancellation policy. We respectfully request at least 12 hours notice if you need to cancel or rebook your massage appointment. We charge 50% of the reservation made to the credit card on file to compensate our staff for missed wages when there is a last minute cancellation.
What if I fail to show for a scheduled massage or arrive late?
If you miss your appointment or arrive 15 minutes past your scheduled service start time, the service is automatically canceled and the full price of the scheduled service is charged to the credit card on file. To ensure a relaxing experience, and get the full benefits of the massage, we advise guests to arrive on time (or early) for all scheduled appointments.
How can I cancel my membership?
Ritual Members can cancel their recurring dues membership at any time by providing their boutique with 30-days written notice stating the desire to cancel. You may cancel in-person at the boutique or by sending an email to the boutique where your membership was purchased. All boutique contact information can be found under the locations page on our website.
Note: In states where required by applicable law, in addition to the above, you can also choose to cancel your membership through choosing the cancellation option on your membership profile online.
How long do I have to use massage credits?
Membership credits can accrue indefinitely until a Ritual Membership is canceled. Unused massage credits will continue to accrue (i.e., roll-over month-to-month) as long as your membership remains in place. You will have 3 months from the date of cancellation to use any unused massage credits before they expire. No refunds are issued for unused credits.
Can I freeze my membership?
The freeze policy allows you to temporarily suspend your Ritual Membership in accordance with the following terms: You may freeze your membership up to three(3) months per contractual year. Please see our Terms of Service for more details.
Do you accept gift cards?
Yes, we accept gift cards for The NOW Massage services and products. Gift card terms and conditions do apply. For more details on our gift card program, please refer to our Terms of Service.
Do you permit minors to use services?
Yes, unless the state, province or territory prohibit it by law, The NOW Massage makes services available to minors between the ages of 13 and 17. Minor use of services requires the written consent of a parent or legal guardian, and additional restrictions may apply. Please see our Terms of Service for more details.
Are services and pricing subject to change?
Yes, please note that prices and services are subject to change at any time.
What if I’m not feeling well?
If you are feeling sick or unwell prior to the start of your scheduled massage, we encourage you to stay home. The NOW Massage boutique is an open-space concept and keeping guests and team members safe is everyone’s responsibility. If you begin to feel sick during your treatment, please let your Massage therapist know immediately.
What is the NOW's policy related to cell phone use at the boutique?
We aim to create a safe and relaxing environment for our members and guests. The tranquility offered within our space is paramount. Cell phones can be disruptive and are not encouraged. Although we do allow cell phones at the boutique, we require that the phones be turned off or switched to silent mode upon check-in.
Can I return purchased items?
Yes, if you’ve purchased items in a boutique, we accept returns in original condition (unused, undamaged and unopened in the original packaging) within seven days from the date of purchase. All items purchased in a boutique are only eligible for return or exchange in the same location it was purchased. Because jewelry is made-to-order, jewelry is eligible for exchange only.
If you’ve purchased items online – through The NOW’s website – we accept returns in original conditions (unused, undamaged and unopened in original packaging) provided you first obtain a return authorization number, which you can request by emailing shop@thenowmassage.com. The return authorization number must be written clearly on the outside of the box. Return and exchange shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility and the original shipping charge is nonrefundable.
