I brought my son in for a simple fade with a zero at the bottom — nothing complicated or unusual — and the stylist refused, saying “we aren’t barbers.” That made no sense because I’ve taken my son to other Great Clips locations many times for the exact same haircut and never had an issue. What made the situation feel even worse was the vibe from the moment we walked in. She was actively cutting a white man’s hair when we arrived, and the whole interaction felt dismissive from the start. After leaving, I even Googled it and found that Great Clips stylists are in fact trained to do fades and clipper cuts. To make sure I wasn’t overreacting, I took my son to another Great Clips location where several men were literally getting fades done, and the employees there even said it was weird that we were turned away. Very unprofessional experience and definitely not consistent with other Great Clips locations I’ve been to.

Online Check-In can be used for all services except perms and formal updos. Please note that not all salons offer perms. Most salons require an appointment for these services, so please call your local Great Clips salon to inquire.

No. For the stylist’s safety, we do not publish their schedules or allow customers to request them using Online Check-In. Great Clips salons use Clip Notes®, which keeps track of any previous haircut you received at a Great Clips salon, so any stylist can give you a great haircut. If you would like to request a particular stylist, be sure to say that when you arrive at the salon and finish your check-in. Note that requesting a stylist may increase your estimated wait time.
If I checked in online, do I need to do anything when I arrive at the salon?
Once you arrive, check in at the receptionist desk to let the stylists know you're there. They will finish checking you in at that time.
