  First cut at Scuttlebutt and will be back for sure. Good vibes right off the bat with a nice offer of a drink in the lounge/waiting area, and then a great experience with my barber, Jacob. Super attentive to detail, listened carefully to what I was aiming for, excellent conversationalist, great haircut. Recommended and will return!

  Ian always does a tip top job. It was hard to find someone who does a skin fade the way I like it and he does it just right! Nice guy to chat with and I leave with a great haircut. Good atmosphere and close to downtown Portsmouth so there’s stuff to do afterwards.

  Great service and haircut. In town on business, needed a clean up, googled best barber shops and Scuttlebutt met the challenge! Ian did a fantastic job! Great shop, great atmosphere, and great people! Michael

  Unfortunately I didn’t have the best experience today. Don’t get me wrong it’s a really nice barbershop/lounge, and everyone there seems friendly, but I paid $80 for a not so good haircut. The barber is still young and developing, I get it. However the prices shouldn’t be $80 for someone that’s not at that skill level. I thought I’d have a better experience due to the ratings and the high prices. The only times I pay that much is for barbers who’ve been around for 10+ years, and are among the best. On top of that I spent 2 hours waiting to be done, and when I was apparently “done” I’ve had to request some final touches that were incomplete. Once he rang me up I knew that I was screwed, because prices are nonnegotiable, but that’s not how I’m used to seeing other barbershop run their business. I’ve paid roughly $40 at other places similar to this one, and have had better experiences than this. Don’t mean to provide such bad review, I’m sure other barbers at this place are great. Is just the prices don’t add up for the quality services that I received today.

  as someone who doesn’t often enjoy getting haircuts and lets his hair grow out until the haircut is needed, Jonas made me feel very comfortable with getting a haircut. He took his time with clear effort and positioning, he always reassured to make sure he understood what i wanted, and he was also very friendly and super easy to talk to. While cutting my hair we had a meaningful conversation about a bunch of ranging topics like how small the world is and who we both knew, etc etc. For someone his age he cuts like he’s got years of experience , and he loves it. If you are ever confused or don’t know what u want, Jonas will very much help you find your route. He doesn’t push anything or do anything without asking, he’s very polite and good with recommendations if ur confused. if you are like me I 100% recommend seeing him. He knows what he’s doing.
