Stephen is friendly and gives his best advice for what will look best for an older woman. I trust his advice.

Harsh lighting, cramped interior. That being said, I enjoyed my stylist. This place is definitely for younger people, they cling to the “trendy” side of things. I may consider returning

Amazing experience! I had Stephen and he was amazing and took a lot of time during the consultation to make sure he knew what I wanted and prices were extremely reasonable! They absolutely know how to work with both alternative textured hair as well as straight hair! Absolutely my new haircutting place and will be going back!

I've gotten my hair permed by Marcy twice (Jul'25 and May'26), and it was a great experience both times. They're very good about making sure you're comfortable every step of the way. It's a very welcoming atmosphere and a lot of the stylists are LGBTQ+. My perm + cut ends up being around $250, and Locke Hair has a no-tip (or tip-already-included) system.
Unfortunately I don't take a lot of good pictures of myself, so I'm afraid these are the best I can do lol.
[If anyone is considering getting a perm for the first time, here's what my process looks like: First, I did a free 15 minute consultation so that Marcy could confirm what style I wanted and make sure my hair was a good candidate for a perm. On the day of the perm, they wash my hair. Since it's easier to roll up longer hair onto the rods, even tho I was getting a shorter cut, the perm comes before the cut. Rolling up all of the hair is the longest part of the process; it takes at least an hour for my pre-cut-shoulder-length hair. Then comes the stinky perm juice, which sits in your hair for about 20 minutes before getting rinsed out and neutralized. Then the hair gets cut and styled. The whole process takes about 2.5 hours for me. I wait 2-3 days before washing my hair, and for a few showers after that I can still smell the perm solution when I get my hair wet lol. I give my hair a couple of weeks to settle in, and then I come in for a free quick lil trim. I don't put a lot of effort in styling my hair, but after I shower I'll at least use a leave-in conditioner. If I want a lil more definition and hold, I use a 50/50 mix of curl cream and gel. My naturally-very-straight hair tends to hold perms pretty well. Last time, it still had a slight curl after 4-5 months, and it had a slight wave even after 9 months.]
