Yesterday I had a really disappointing experience. This location does piercing changes. I wanted to have my gauges changed, so I brought in my own jewelry. I was unhappy with my current jewelry because, no matter how much I cleaned it, it left a bad odor. I was also struggling to change what I was wearing myself. I made sure to call and explain what I needed.
I explained what I wanted to the male piercer when I was there in person, and unfortunately, throughout this whole process, I was getting insulted left and right. He couldn't remove the screw-on gauge jewelry and blamed me for it. He also couldn't install the new jewelry I bought, and he attributed both issues to saying I have bad hygiene, when the whole reason I was there was that my daily hygiene still wasn't doing enough justice to the material I was wearing, and I wanted it out. He also said I came very unprepared, even though I brought my own jewelry. He was trying to find another way to put my gauge jewelry in and suggested using tapers, but when he went to look for them, he somehow couldn't find many, even though he claimed he did. And called me unprepared? He also insulted the non-piercing jewelry I was wearing, saying it looked like aluminum, even though I had not asked for his opinion on what I was wearing; I just wanted my gauge jewelry changed. Throughout this whole process, he kept calling me baby as well. It was just a very degrading process when he could've simply said I can't do this. I did not need all these unnecessary and hurtful comments. It's like I just went into this place to be insulted, because nothing changed with my jewelry from when I went in and left the place. He said it couldn't be done at all.
I went to Enigma Tattoo 20 minutes after I left, and they unscrewed the screw-on jewelry just fine. They did not comment on my hygiene; they did not call me baby, they had tapers prepared and put them in the jewelry with no problem, and now I happily have in my new jewelry. They also charged $30 for this process, whereas 13 roses would have cost me $80.
My experience at 13 Roses was bizarre. It was very odd to go to another place in the tattoo/piercing industry with no issues, and the man was kind the whole time. Like, why did I have to experience all of the at 13 Roses?
To the team: I'm sure you guys have some nice people working there, but I just did not experience that.
To my fellow members of the piercing community: I would not recommend this place. The man who works there is not kind; there's a chance he won't even get the work done, and you will leave not feeling great about yourself.
I will find a way to forgive this experience. I usually don't write reviews, but I want to flag this behavior. I know I wouldn't want a man like that on my team.
