This is a difficult review for me to leave, and doesn't necessarily reflect the salon itself, but instead, the stylist & my experience. I called about 2 weeks ago, never have been to this salon but have been recommended by several locals. I made an appointment with the stylist who answered the phone, SHARON, (same stylist who did my hair.) I was very specific with what I wanted done. I told her I wanted all over color, and I have money pieces that I wanted to keep and needed touched up. She gave me round-about price (all was great) and we just set the appointment.
Come appointment day, I walked in and was greeted by another stylist first, my stylist, Sharon, didn't introduce herself but she said "OH. You have really long hair, you must be my appointment." In an annoyed tone.
* Note: The ONLY reason I know her name, is because she gave me her business card at the end of my appointment! *
She took my name, and pointed to her chair, told me to take off my sweatshirt. Before putting a cape on me, I told her that I wanted her to know that my hair was very difficult to brush when wet, and we needed to dry it first. She nodded, put my cape on and started her "consult." Which I just showed her a simple dark brown colored hair, she had to consult with another stylist, and she went on to mixing color. She ackowledged my money pieces 2 or 3 times, she NEVER told me what she was doing, but she came over, rubbed some sort of cream on her hands, and put it on my money pieces first, before dying the rest of my head. Since that was the only part of my hair that needed bleached (3"-4" of root color), I figured it was just a quick and easy way to bleach such a small area. She was VERY rough, yanked and yanked on my head the whole time. Literally said to me "wow, you'd think by your age you'd toughen up a bit." Not that she even knew how old I was... Laid ALL of my hair over my face when dying, leaving a ton of dye on my face. She told me she was just going to "pull the color through" since my ends were so dark, matching the dyed color.
I did get charged for a full color, and extra charge for long hair... even though it says 'full color long' on the orignal charge. Thats ok, i'm not too upset, I have a lot of hair... not to mention the $30 tip I also gave her..
She didn't listen to the other stylist when she said she'd do my haircut first so there wasnt so much to dye, I did get about 3"+/- off. Once she washed my hair, she immediately went to trying to comb it, being (obviously) frusted that it wouldn't brush out from being wet, I made two more comments about having to blowdry it to brush it, and the owner actually told her the same thing, she finally KIND OF listened. She put me under a dryer for 10ish minutes, which did absolutely nothing. And then shook a blowdryer around for about another 2 minutes. She still refused to blow dry it completely and just kept saying she just "didn't believe it" and my "hair wasn't going to win this battle" and has "never seen that in her 35 years of doing hair." I'm skipping a lot, but after my hair was dried, It was obvious that my money pieces were not bleached, or touched up. It must have been some sort of barrier cream so they weren't dyed with the rest of my hair? I still have about 3"-4" of brown root with my money pieces, that I will now have to go have done somewhere else. She seemed in a rush and annoyed, like she didn't want to do my hair from the second I walked in the door. Even though she scheduled herself to do my hair... This whole time, she NEVER made small talk, not even how are you, how'd you hear about us, what do you do... typical things you ask a general new client. I was just all in all dissapointed and unhappy in my experience there. I work with the public all day, so it's been quite an eye sore with having dye all over my face all day. She didn't try to scrub it off of me until it sat on my face for an hour. Very dissapointed with the whole experience and wouldn't recommend going to at least that stylist. It does seem the others are highly recommended, though.

I am having many negative feelings about my experience at Cella-Mar. The only thing that has improved since I went there 4 years ago was the upgrade in the appearance of the inside of the shop, from dirty clutter to cleaner and organized. The employees sounded friendly on the phone, but in person the attitudes felt unwelcoming, unfriendly and flippant. I was specific in what I asked to have done, and with no suggestions or further information Lori proceeded. I tried making conversation and she wasn’t interested. She did converse occasionally with the other stylist and the conversations were sometimes inappropriate, mostly unprofessional and I felt like I was on the outside of inside jokes. The cut and styling I received was ok, except for the uneven peach fuzz left on my neck like it was supposed to be part of the cut. I asked for pops of a purple color in my bang area and on both sides around my face. I was not shown color choices and the only thing discussed was the amount of foils to be used. When it was dry my whole head went from lavender to purple and the color was intense. I expressed my disapproval and was told, “The lavender part will wash out”, with no offer to continue washing it out for me. I had to wash it over 7 times. I’m a 56 year old who looked like a teenager who tried to color her own hair purple and failed. I will choose to live with it until it fades but the application was more of an ombre look with most of the hair framing my face as purple, not the pops of color I asked for. When I called to see if someone there could try to remedy the situation, Lori did not offer to work with my schedule and I was told no one else could either. After thinking about it, I have decided I will not go back to this shop. What I hoped to be a couple hours of pampering turned out adding to the stress in my life.
