It's Keune's 95th birthday! The business was founded on January 6th, 1922 by Dutch chemist Jan Keune. At the time, he developed an innovative formula for a liquid perm, making his company the first European manufacturer of this product. Today, Keune products are used in more than 70 countries by hundreds of thousands of salon professionals! Despite our international growth, we're still family-owned and –operated. George Keune sr., son of founder Jan Keune, still shows up to work every day—even after 65 years with the company. George sr.’s two sons also work at Keune. Our family company is driven by passion, characterized by integrity. We're known for pouring heart and soul into every facet of our business. From Keune HQ in Soest, The Netherlands, we export a plethora of products, educational tools and salon business concepts to more than 70 countries. To celebrate 95 years of Keune, we collaborated with Amsterdam-based fashion illustrator Sjoukje Bierma. She created ten exclusive paintings of decade-defining hairstyles—from the 1920s bob to today’s look du jour. Every illustration also features our most popular product of that particular decade.
