I got my Deluxe Blowout done on 6/29/26 by Lee. I waited to post this to see how long it would take for my scalp to not be sore…it took 5 days. Lee seemed nice but I was not given the best experience. For context, I am black women that has textured hair. I was not too confident going to this hair cuttery location at first because I have textured hair and was skeptical of their experience with caring for such. However, I was assured by a family member that they see women with textured/curly hair getting services there all the time. Inside the salon there are even signs that say “all hair is welcome”. I did not feel that way.
When I walked in both stylists were busy, which is fine but I was not even acknowledged with a “Hi”, even though I said “Hi” and smiled. But every other customer who entered after me was greeted. As a black woman you can imagine what my thoughts are about that. Anyways…My stylist was Lee. During the service I wasn’t given a cape and got hair product all over me, even though I saw that the other customers were given capes for their services. I feel like that’s something that one expects at a hair appointment. Then Lee did not detangle my hair after washing in order to blow dry. Instead she towel dried my hair, sprayed product and hacked through my hair (literally) with the blow dryer and brush. I have never been tendered headed but I was in the verge of tears this hurt so much. I asked her to be more gentle and her response was that “your ends are tangled, I’ll add more product”. First, that’s not how you resolved tangled hair. Second, that is presenting me with a normal occurrence for textured hair that would have been solved by lightly detangling after washing. I also had the sense that she wanted to go fast but you can be gentle and efficient during a service. So I sat through the service because I really needed it, on my only day off for the week. After the service I had an extreme headache that lasted about 2 days and my scalp was sore to the touch for 5 days. Luckily my hair is resilient but she could have seriously damaged my hair.
All I can say is that if the stylist does not have experience with certain hair texture and that service is assigned to them, I would prefer them to tell me they can not do it and respect that, rather than subject me to pain/torture and possible hair damage. Stylists should not conduct services they don’t have experience with. I won’t be going back here unless I can secure a stylist with known experience with textured/curly hair.

Fabulous experience with my stylist Sandy. She listened carefully to my requested style and took a good look at the inspo pictures on my phone. Hair wash was very relaxing and she put a lot of effort in a very detailed cut. Blow dry was great and the style came out exactly as I imagined. She is also very respectful with a wonderful attitude. Thank you - will be back in the future.

Horrible. I went in for a haircut, and the stylist (Megan) didnt even know how to cut my hair. I requested a simple burst fade and a little off the top, and she just shaved the sides of my head and said thats the best she could do. Then since she couldn't figure out how to fade my hair, she calls the manager over to cut my hair and she messes it up even more. Horrible experience, waste of an hour and a half and 32 dollars. This place is a joke

Do not go here for a blowout.
This salon absolutely ruined my hair on my graduation day. I saw on their website that they offer both standard and deluxe blowouts, so I booked myself a deluxe blowout on the morning of my graduation. First, the stylist (Kheng) told me I would have to pay a $27 upcharge due to a "long hair fee." This seemed excessive because my hair only goes to my upper-mid back, but I agreed so that things could go smoothly. I showed Kheng several inspiration photos of the blowout style I was going for, and he assured me that we could do this with my hair.
My salon chair was turned away from the mirror for the entire blowout service, but as soon as Kheng said we were finished and showed me the result, I was absolutely horrified. Blowouts - by definition - are supposed to add volume and bounce to your hair. What I got instead was a flat head of hair with some very minor curl at the bottom - it looked worse (and flatter) than when I do a basic blowdry at home. The hair was also twisted into a really weird shape and it was all in the same direction - not swooping away from my face as a blowout should. I told Kheng this is not at all what the photos looked like and requested that he fix it. The "fix" ended up being an incredibly rushed, sloppy job with a curling iron, which left my hair frizzy, flat in multiple places (especially the back), and unsalvageable due to all the hairspray/product being used. He was also unable to blow dry my curtain bangs correctly, to the point where I had to provide guidance on how to do it. Ridiculous!
At this point, I could not spend any more time at the salon without being late to my graduation. My hair looked absolutely horrendous (photo for reference). And I have a good head of hair. I was not offered any form of refund at the time and left the salon in tears over how frustrating this experience was.
I had intentionally booked one of the more experienced stylists at this location so that I did not have to worry about my hair on my graduation day. Instead, I was put through an agonizing experience and had my entire day ruined because of Kheng's inability to administer a proper blowout. I did what I could to try to fix the flat parts myself at home - but it was very difficult.
And the worst part - when I provided my feedback to the manager overseeing the store, she tried to blame it on me. She said it was my hair type (except I have naturally bouncy and voluminous hair, so that's not it), not having any layers in my hair (I have soft layers, so that's not it either), and the length of my hair (again - it only goes to mid back. What kind of stylist can't blow dry medium-long hair?). The lack of concern and accountability from the store's management was really the nail in the coffin for me. After a lot of back and forth, the most I was offered was a refund for the $27 "long hair charge" - which I don't think I should have been charged in the first place. And given that I did not receive anything close to the "deluxe blowout" I paid for, I felt it was fair to expect a full refund.
So if you care about your hair, or about a good customer service experience, I would strongly urge you to learn from my mistakes and stay away from Hair Cuttery in King Farm.
