Vivid Salon The business was spacious and clean with an inviting ambiance. The staff was all pleasant including my stylist Rachel and my haircut was satisfactory. However, I left with hair dye scattered across both sides of my face, ears, and neck. For a salon of this caliber, a petroleum jelly barrier or something could have easily prevented this problem. Additionally, my request was for all over color to match the roots of my natural hair which I would quantify as a dark ash brown. After leaving the salon, looking at my hair now dry in different lights, giving it a few days and several washes. It is jet black and there is a large section towards the back that is not evenly colored that is brown. For the price point I would expect to get what I asked for. What I paid for. Unfortunately all I can think is I should have saved $180 and colored my hair myself. I called and offered to come in to show them their work, in order to receive a refund for the color but they do not offer refunds only redos. I went to get my hair done for my vacation so I won’t have the time to get it redone but even if I did I don’t think I’d trust there would be an improvement if such a poor job was done in the first place.

I came in to get a Haircut with Caroline, a level 4 stylist, a couple days ago. I asked for a simple trim on my faux mullet, an eyebrow waxing, and beard trim. I started my experience with a 10/10 hair wash, where I was actually asked multiple times if I was comfortable and the water was a good temperature, I felt welcomed and cared about. The massage from the shampooing was relaxing and was something I’d come back just for that. The eyebrow cleanup was spectacular and every unwanted hair was waxed. This is the best haircut I’ve gotten in my life with the way the hair sat wet and dry and how it looks now that it’s been a few days. I can tell the cut was done in a perfect way to where my hair will majestically grow out exactly how I imagine. I will be coming back to get my haircuts with Caroline exclusively and I recommend you guys do the same. From her concern and care to her vibrant personality and professionalism, she’s the best stylist I’ve come across in the DMV area.

I called randomly to schedule my hair being serviced; which included roots dyed black, blck hair lightened to get a deep red chunk highlight. I also asked for a cut and Blow-dried. Immediately after calling they sent me an email to fill out a form because it was my first visit. They asked me any other services I might be interested in. Of course I said facial. As we all know you do t get a facial before hair dyed! They told me that it would be fine. My skin was fine before the facial I just wanted some brightness and anti-aging, which the facial was relaxing. However the results of the facial lasted all but 2 hours, after all the hair dye was slapped across my forehead! I think the most awkward part was the fact that they could have waited to give me a facial, they just rushed it to make money. At the end they asked me if I was tipping in cash or card???? What if I didn’t want to tip at all??? Obviously I tip no matter what because I am a server. I just didn’t like that the tip suggestion was $92 on $440??? I mean my hair should have been $250, the facial yes $100. I paid $451 altogether and left $25 tip. So I spent $476 for about $350 worth of work on a good day!

Went to Vivid Salon after not having professional services in probably 6-7 years. Anna did the most amazing job. I had a lot going on from years of home dye jobs and she transformed my hair. She nailed and exceeded my inspo pic. My hair looks and feels 1000x better than when I walked in. It is beautifully blended and she really listened to what I wanted. I can’t wait to go back but for now I will stair at my new hair!!

TLDR: Extremely upsetting first experience. Paid to work with Caroline, a level 4 stylist. Either there was major miscommunication, I was misunderstood, or she didn’t care to respect my wishes. My hair was not cut angled as in my inspiration photo, and as we agreed. My hair color is barely visible, despite emphasizing I wanted it to be visible. Parts of my hair were lightened but missed when dying. The bottom few inches were not dyed as in the photo, how I asked. For the last hour and a half I was passed down to a level 1 stylist, but I was still charged the full price of working with level 4 Caroline on my receipt. I reached out to both the owner on instagram, and shared my story via the contact email on their website and no one has responded or reached out to me. It has been 5 days. Long Version: I am extremely upset with Vivid Salon. I would like to share my experience when I came in on Monday, 6/1 for hair services. I worked with Caroline, a level 4 stylist. I really appreciated that she spoke with me for roughly 15 minutes about what I wanted done to my hair and answered a few questions. I showed her my inspiration photo which she said she had already seen on the intake form but I showed it again so we could discuss it. I emphasized how I wanted my hair cut at an angle with it longer in the front than in the back. After services, my hair does not have any sort of angled cut. We discussed the idea of dying my hair blue so that it could transition into turquoise as I washed it out. Caroline suggested a dark blue for this. I agreed but stated very clearly that I wanted my hair to still be visibly colored/blue indoors. That I didn’t want to have to be in the sunlight for it to be noticeable. Later while I had been passed on to a level 1 stylist, Caroline stopped by and was admiring her work. She pointed out the blue in the mirror that I couldn't see. She told me to put my glasses on and left. The level 1 stylist noticed my concern and told me that there is just poor lighting in the salon and not to worry, that I’ll be able to see the color in the sun. After services the blue was barely noticeable. Later that same evening, my mother asked me “I thought you were going to color your hair?” I feel that my wishes were disregarded. Parts of my hair were lightened but missed when dying. This is hard to see past when I am paying a large amount of money to work with a Level 4 stylist. I selected Full Balayage on the intake form. Caroline explained that what I really wanted was a partial balayage. I honestly don’t know if the correct term was full or partial balayage for the amount of dye required for how I wanted my hair like in the inspiration photo. Where almost a third of the hair is colored. She explained that a full balayage was if you wanted to dye your whole head. I trusted she knew what she was talking about. After services, my hair looks more like it just has some highlights. For the last hour and a half I was passed down to a level 1 stylist, but I was still charged the full price of working with level 4 Caroline on my receipt. At the very end of my session the tips of my hair were curled. I was confused, as the tips of the hair in the inspiration photo I discussed were straight, and curling the tips of my hair was not discussed with me. The very next day I reached out to the owner via instagram, stating that I wanted to share my experience, and asked for the appropriate email. I never received a response. I then emailed the contact email listed on their website. I shared my experience and pictures. It has been 5 days and I have not heard back.
