- ESElizabeth Smith3 days ago1.0This was my second experience at the Kentlands HairCuttery. My first appointment the stylist stated she uses a razor on short hair and was I fine with it. I agreed, she was careful and my haircut was okay. I decided to return. When I sat for my appointment she used a hairdryer to blow the previous customers hair of her station and the combs. His hair did remain in the comb itself. I requested she use a clean comb and asked don’t they sterilize or at least use a new comb with each customer. She said she does not nor does any other stylist in the salon, but would if I insisted, which I did. I then asked if she was going to use the razor again and she looked confused why I wanted to have her use a razor. She went and spoke about me to other stylists till she found someone with a razor. She was rough and unprofessional throughout the appointment. I have contacted the Board of Health and her information regarding reusing combs is not permitted and can result in fines against the salon and her.

During that call, I was quoted a price of $31.00. I subsequently arrived for my 7:30 p.m. appointment the same day, at which time my hair was washed and brushed. After the service had begun, the stylist provided a different quote of $44.00 and then revised the amount again to $66.00. I reminded the stylist of the price I had been quoted by phone, and the front desk attendant confirmed that quote. However, after a brief discussion, the stylist declined to honor the original quoted price. As a result, I chose to end the appointment, removed the cape, and left the salon. This experience was disappointing and unprofessional, and I do not intend to patronize this salon again. I also believe it is important to share my experience so that others are aware of this situation.

The receptionist offered to smooth it out, but I felt that should have been done initially by stylist.

Their appointments are very easy to book using the app, prices are reasonable, and the location is so convenient. I used to go to expensive high-end salons with celebrity stylists and honestly, I’m happier with Yasmine.
