Avoid this location. Should have been $68, was charged $121 Like other reviewers I was (in my case, grossly) overcharged here this week & rudely handled afterwards by the manager who couldn't care less. I experienced terrible customer service and customer treatment.
I've been an HC client for 15 years, at 2 locations. My usual (wonderful) stylist was off so I saw someone else. I came in for a $32 signature cut, includes shampoo+conditioner. I clearly stated I didn't want a blow dry, was just going home after my cut. It was late, shortly before closing. The nice desk girl wrote it down and gave me to a senior stylist.
I met the senior stylist, discussed taking a small amount of hair off as a trim to my fine, easy hair. (I like the cut, but she did take off more than I showed her). Before shampooing I inquired additionally, do you have enough time to add a toner which cuts brass on blonde highlights between my color application visits. She said yes. I asked, is toner still $36. She said she had to check. (A senior stylist didnt know?) She came back, said "No. It's $89 now" I said, "$89? For a toner?" I was shocked. It's always been $35 or $36). She exclaimed, oh no!That was ages ago. Its gone up! Toner is $89. You want it?
I had an appt next day and wanted the toner. I literally asked her again " that sounds strange. Are you sure?" She next argued that toner is only $36 with additional coloring at the same time. I said, 'well no, I come in between color all the time to refresh'. A senior sylist was acting like she couldn't understand that. She kept pushing. You want it or not? I reluctantly agreed.
After the rinse, stylist began blowdrying my hair. I reminded her I said I didn't want a blow dry, Just the cut and toner. She then said, "it comes with the toner".
I was aware that made no sense. I said, but I asked for no blowout. Isn't the toner only $36 by itself? She told me "that was a long time ago. Now it comes with a blowdry". I said, no, it wasn't long ago. And repeated I didn't ask for nor want a blowdry.
I felt pushed into the blowdry. Went to pay, and what should have been a $68 Haircuttery bill, with this stylist was a $121 bill, plus tip... I recevied a $140 bill, for $68 worth of requested services. for my very thin 60 year old extra fine hair. And I live on a budget.
I left upset and frankly shaking. I felt and knew I was taken advantage of. I phoned 2 other HCs, they confirmed and said toners are $36, stand alone services, you can come in just for that. Just as I have been for 15 years. And No blowdry included.
I called the manager as I was directed to do a couple days later (as she was on vacation) Saying I was charged $89 for $36 toner. but she had yet another version why $36 was a wrong quote by her other employee whom she said she corrected her already, that all my other 15 years of Haircuttery toner visits were mistakes, and that she already informed her annapolis employee of her new policy. Then I could hear her gossipping about me to a stylist unprofessionally in the background, misstating what occurred instead of trying to fix or correct a mispricing, with no concern about what happened at her store. I experienced horrible customer service with no concern for misquoting and overcharging for a toner. I was charged for a color with blowdry, not what I asked for and got, a $36 toner. Dishonest and wrong. I'm in my sixties.
I won't be going back. Another good customer gone. And I see I'm not alone at this store.
I feel left with having to leave my wonderful honest stylist who honors HC listed pricing or being uncomfortable in this store.
