We offer semaglutide and tirzepatide injections for weight loss. Both medications are highly effective tools for weight loss. Semaglutide belongs to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists. It helps lower blood sugar levels by stimulating the release of insulin, which helps regulate blood sugar. It also slows down the emptying of the stomach, which can help you feel fuller for longer and reduce food cravings. Tirzepatide, on the other hand, is a dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and GLP-1 receptor agonist. It also stimulates the release of insulin and slows down stomach emptying. However, it has the additional benefit of targeting two different hormones involved in blood sugar regulation. Overall, both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are effective in managing blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes and are highly effective for weight loss. However, Tirzepatide’s dual action on GIP and GLP-1 receptors may provide additional benefits. Options will be discussed during our initial consultation. Majority of clients are treated effectively with semaglutide which is a more cost effective option. Others may benefit from use of tirzepatide. Who is the right candidate for these medications? The ideal candidate would be someone who understands healthy eating and exercise is a long term lifestyle habit and having trouble losing weight even with practicing these habits routinely. How is it Given? You’ll receive the injection once a week, on the same day each week in our office. It can be given at any time of day, and you can take it with or without food. Semaglutide is injected just under the skin (subcutaneously) in your abdomen, arm, or thigh. Typical dosing schedule: We will start you at 0.25 mg once weekly and adjust as needed. Using this slow titration approach will help minimize any unwanted side effects. The goal is to lose 1-2 lbs/week and at the lowest dose which works for you.
