Bad attitude and impatient
Most of the staff, with the exception of a tall blond mall presenting individual, just seemed to be on autopilot. Saying the same thing to every customer. No one available to help me find the product I was looking for. Wasn’t greeted upon entering. Products listed in stock on the website were incorrect. Overall, maybe me feel as unwelcome in Sephora as i usually do in a Home Depot.
I visited the Sephora location on Newbury Street on 4/26/26 around 2–3 PM to look for a product, and unfortunately had a disappointing experience.
When I approached an employee and asked, “can I have some help?”, the response I received was, “MAY BE!” That reply made me pause for a moment, and as I hesitated, the employee added, “I’m a manager, so.” I then continued the interaction and said, “okay, can you help me with this product,” but the tone of the exchange already felt off.
I’m sharing the exact wording because this kind of language and attitude does not reflect the level of professionalism expected from a brand like Sephora—especially from someone in a leadership role working in a customer-facing environment.
For context, I’ve had consistently wonderful experiences at the Prudential location, where the staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. This experience felt very different and quite unprofessional in comparison.
I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as customer experience is such an important part of the brand.
I had a very unpleasant experience at this Sephora store last week. A staff member offered help to my friend, and my friend politely responded, “No, thanks.” After that, without my friend knowing, the staff member said to another employee that my friend could not even speak. Fortunately, I overheard the comment. I do not remember her name, but she was a middle-aged white woman with brown hair.
This behavior was rude, humiliating, and completely unprofessional. No customer should be treated this way. Sephora, this was deeply disappointing and unacceptable.

Employees wouldn’t let me in 5 minutes before close. As I was opening the door they were shaking their heads and motioning for me to go away, wish I could make this up. I get not wanting to work later than you have to but I just had a quick return to make and probably would’ve been out of there on time. They also could’ve just politely said they were about to close, no need to shoo me away like a dog. I’ve truly never experienced customer service this bad before. Will not be returning
