Alice W provided horrible customer service and made me feel like helping me was an inconvenience. I came into the store specifically to purchase concealer and lip liner because the website clearly stated the promotion was valid for both in-store and online purchases at 30% off. Since the sale was advertised that way, I used my work break to come pick up the items.
When I asked Alice about the sale, she immediately told me with an attitude that the store was not honoring it. I then asked to speak with a manager, and she claimed that she was the manager. I explained that the website clearly stated the promotion applied in store and online, but she remained dismissive and disrespectful.
I ended up calling MAC customer service directly while in the store, and they spoke with her and confirmed that the promotion could, in fact, be used in-store. After that, she suddenly said she needed to “text her manager,” which was confusing considering she had just told me she was the manager herself. At that point, it honestly felt dishonest and unprofessional.
I waited in the store for nearly 20 minutes for her “manager” to respond, but nothing was resolved. Eventually, I left and ordered the exact same products through DoorDash because the sale was being honored there as well. I even had to meet the DoorDash driver outside just to finally get the discounted items.
As someone who has worked in retail, I know there were multiple ways she could have handled this professionally, including simply honoring the advertised promotion or making a price adjustment. Instead, she chose to provide poor customer service and treated me disrespectfully throughout the interaction.
This entire experience was frustrating and unnecessary, and I believe Alice needs additional coaching on professionalism, communication, and customer service.
