I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the JCPenney Salon. Three weeks after spending $370 to have my hair professionally colored for the first time, I returned to the same stylist for a root touch-up. During my original appointment, I specifically told her that I was new to hair coloring and asked her to let me know exactly what colors she was using. She assured me that everything would be saved in my JCPenney profile, so I trusted that future appointments would be simple and consistent. When I returned for my touch-up, it became immediately obvious that my color information had not been saved. The stylist seemed confused and had no idea what color formula had been used on my hair. Since I was relying on her expertise, I couldn’t provide the color names myself. Instead of having my formula on file, she started trying to “match” my existing color. She recommended a color that looked far too dark to me. I expressed my concern, but she insisted it was the correct match. Trusting her professional judgment, I agreed. That was a huge mistake. After the color was processed and washed, my hair was no longer the light auburn shade I had paid for. It was red. I immediately pointed this out, but she dismissed my concern, saying the hair was wet and that I couldn’t accurately judge the color. Once I got home and dried my hair, it was clear that the color was completely wrong. The next day, I called the salon and spoke with the manager, Evette. While she offered to have my hair corrected, what bothered me was that no one ever apologized for the mistake or acknowledged the inconvenience and stress this caused. I returned to the salon and spent six more hours having my hair stripped, recolored, and toned in an attempt to fix the damage that should never have happened in the first place. While they eventually got my hair to a color similar to what I originally had, I was assured that all of this corrective processing would not damage my hair. Two weeks later, my hair is brittle, breaking, and visibly damaged. It feels unhealthy and looks nothing like the hair I walked in with before this ordeal began. To make matters worse, I still do not know the exact color formula being used on my hair because it was never properly documented or shared with me. For a salon that claims to keep client color records, this is unacceptable. What should have been a simple root touch-up turned into a nightmare involving incorrect color, multiple salon visits, six hours of corrective work, and now damaged hair. As a first-time salon color client, this experience has completely shattered my confidence in professional hair coloring. I expected expertise, communication, and accountability. Unfortunately, I received none of those.

Absolutely horrible stylists and customer service. I went here on 1/25/2026 and asked for a strawberry blonde color to accent my natural dirty blonde. We picked 8 copper gold and he applied to my hair. These are the results. Patchy and uneven, 3 colors, streaky, and a chunk around my face with no color. Roots are copper, mid section is blonde, and ends are blonde under tips of bright red I cried and was gaslight “it kinda looks like an ombré, I like it” by the stylist and when I refused to pay for this disaster they tried to call the cops on me and chased me to my car and started knocking on my window that I was committing theft. I’ve been a client here 12 years and they made me pay $110 for this and acted like it looked good. Avoid Jimmy at all costs. He’s too sloppy and lazy to care about your results.
