I booked a 50 minute hydra facial and derma-planing add-on. The day of the appointment, I received an intake form which asked if I wanted to add-on so I elected to add neck and chest for an additional $100. When I arrived early for the appointment, as requested, I received access to the locker room facility and ladies lounge— customary for most luxury hotel spas. Unfortunately, the offered robe did not fit me so I had to leave my pants on and hold the top of the robe closed as I walked around and sat in the lounge. I’m not a big person and the robe did say it was an XL. Maybe one size fits all would be better? My facial tech collected me two minutes past the appointment time. I timed the facial from start to end. It lasted 48 minutes. I elected to not add the $100 charge for my neck and chest because it would not add extra time but instead take time from the facial allotted time which was already cut short by the derma-planing and abbreviated 50 minutes. The hydra facial itself was just okay. There was zero glow afterwards. Usually, a tech asks what issues I might be experiencing with my skin before even beginning the service. My tech asked no questions about my skin. Once I mentioned I didn’t want to add the neck and chest add-on, my tech barely spoke to me other than a few times mentioning what she was about to do. A facial is a very personal service but this was all very cold and mechanical. It seemed like my tech was new because steps were missed. There was a very short cleansing. Then derma-planing, which I paid extra, was done during what should have been the 50 minute facial. No exfoliating, steam or time spent softening the skin before using the initial suction. There was very little time spent on extractions. Maybe that was extra too? I also only noted one type of serum (no idea what kind she just said “anti aging”) used after some suction part which she did out of order, a little at a time and never with much power to the suction, like she was afraid to use the component or something. Usually, my tech shows me what came off my face. Here, I can’t imagine much was exfoliated at all because so little time was spent priming the skin. The massage component of the facial was exceptionally brief, almost not worth mentioning. For the extraordinary cost, I would expect the full 50 minutes are exploited, at a minimum. And a higher level of skill should be required if charging these top tier prices. Most medical grade spas in the area that do hydra facial charge up to half the FS price for far superior service. In fact, I would equate the FS hydra facial to more like an Express version anywhere else. My usual spa, another local luxury hotel (my tech is on vacation) charges around the same as FS but the facial/service is superior in every category, making it worth every penny. I did leave a near 20% tip, despite the poor service and lack of value. The spa manager did ask how it went and I was lukewarm in telling her it was fine. What I really wanted to say is I feel ripped off but it was a public area with little opportunity for discretion. They charge $315 for this deluxe hydra facial. That’s $6.30 a minute. Every minute not received is a loss. The $75 for the derma-planing add on, is really costing $75 plus $6.30 a minute lost out of the 50 minute hydra facial. That’s just so wrong. It makes no sense to add on anything because the cost is not just the single add on charge but the cost plus $6.30 for every minute stolen from the facial time. A guest just getting the full 50 minute facial and no add ons is actually getting more value than the guest who adds on. It appeared the staff was doing some training today. Seems like a good idea.

My friend Desana has been telling me to come to the Four Seasons Spa forever, so we finally did a girls day and now I get the hype. Street parking can be a little hit or miss, but I found a spot. I think they also have valet out front if you don’t feel like dealing with parking. From the second we walked in, everybody was super nice and welcoming. The whole place just feels peaceful. I loved the courtyard, the robes were so comfortable I didn’t want to take mine off, and the locker rooms were stocked. They had facial products, hair products, cleansing products, nice showers, a sauna, and pretty much anything you could think of. You can tell they pay attention to the little details. The massage was everything. I asked for a little extra focus on my hips and my therapist definitely understood the assignment. I walked feeling fresher. Afterward we grabbed a glass of wine and just hung out enjoying the amenities before heading home. I can definitely see why Desana keeps coming back. It’s the perfect spot to treat yourself or have a girls day, and I’ll definitely be back too.

Sahel is the only masseuse that I go to at the Four Seasons spa. He is an incredible, intuitive masseuse who truly cares about my well-being and how I am doing. Whenever I think of getting a massage, Sahel is my go-to.

A regenerating facial to start the day and weekend - super lovely spa facilities with great amenities (shower, steam, and sauna) and a very comfortable experience. The spa area itself is light and bright and the treatment room was very comfortable. Left feeling refreshed! The facial was a little less medical-grade than some other spas but very relaxing.
