- GSGabrielle SiegelAug 20, 20262.0I now understand why you get your ears pierced from a piercing professional. Came for my third hole and mom's second. The overall piercing experience was pleasant, if expensive, but I was surprised when the pain stayed much longer than expected. Not sure if it's the method (apparently you're really supposed to pierce with needles, not guns) or lower quality metal in the earrings, but over the course of the healing process the pain never really went away despite doing aftercare exactly as instructed. Both our piercings got infected, but most importantly were very sensitive and painful for weeks after. I changed out the posts the second I was allowed to, to earrings I had previously gotten at Piercing Pagoda, and the pain immediately went away. I thought maybe I was misremembering my previous piercing experiences as being much better, but I got my fourth hole at Stay True in Newington a few months later and it was exactly how it should be - pain went away fast, and the healing process was smooth. Of my four ear piercing experiences, this is the only one I've had trouble with. Feels guided by money-making much more so than expertise or care – lesson learned, go to a small business run by professional piercers!
