My name is Kelly and I'm a very happy return Hana's Hope recipient! I found out that I have Alopecia Areata in 2018 and I started feeling like less of a woman. I tried everything from shampoos and supplements to steroid injections and nothing worked! I started looking into other options and came across Hana's Hope, Hana's nonprofit that donates wigs to those suffering from hair loss. As soon as I walked through the door, I already felt so welcome and understood. Hana showed so much compassion and empathy and knew just how to help. Not only was I gifted a gorgeous wig, but I was also gifted my confidence back!
Thank you so much Hana and Hana's Hope for what you do and for what you've done for me personally! I am so grateful for another beautiful wig and the privilege to be a return recipient! Words can't express the difference you've made in my life and my self esteem.

I have debated whether or not to post, but at the end of the day, I want to help others make informed decisions if someone like me is ever in this situation and looking for the right place to land.
If you have alopecia or trichotillomania, live over 2 hours away, do not want to have to drive another 2 hours to have them fix extreme color issues two weeks before an event, do not appreciate being told it’s a bad idea to expect $500 or $600 results when coming in so close to an event (what?!), then Hana Designs is definitely not where you should go. My rating is not to say that others who see her/go there don’t get help with their specific needs, but this is just my own experience. Overall I have spent at least:
$2000 plus on 4 appointments
$500 on 2 topper color/wash/cuts
$500 in product
10 hours to and from 4 appointments
5 more hours to and from “fix” appointments for major color mishaps
$500 in gratuities (including on “fix” appointments)
Each time I have gone for an overhaul, it has been clear I am going to celebrate my 50th or for my daughter’s college graduation. I should not have to explain why it is important for my $500 hair appointment to look that expensive when I walk out the door. But I always do and they are aware.
Hana doesn’t care about my experience, or she would not have let this happen to begin with, and especially never ever let me walk out the door like this after seeing it fully and collecting my $600. All she did after I brought it to her attention was offer to have the same colorist fix it, which was a hard no. Hello? See photos below. If a business owner cannot afford enough time to fix major color issues herself, she should not put clients with colorists who cannot color to begin with, let alone charge so much money to be with them.
I have posted photos of the last visit. This is what I paid $500 for, had to drive back 2.5 hours for, end up with no highlights (better than patches, streaks and two tone hair and a third color “rim” around my frame). After which I was told by Hana that she would not be booking me any future appointments. She stated that it is because the only stylist they have who knows how to color is only there once a week and “they discussed it and both agreed I would not be understanding if the stylist had to cancel on me at the last minute”. Um, you’re absolutely right-I am not into “standby” hair appointments! I’m glad she made that call though, because after two times now I should not have been so trusting. By the way, this is how they handled things even with being nothin but kind, polite, patient and professional about THEIR problem. Never heard an apology ever.
For anyone who may be able to relate, I’d steer clear of this place.
Hope this helps someone else out there who expects to get what they pay for.
**To address Hana’s response, the first time I needed a correction, the stylist was supposed to match a human-hair topper that I paid Hana $250 to color for my 50th birthday. That stylist did an amazing beautiful job with color but it was a completely different color. Hana corrected the color to match, like I specifically asked for to begin with. This past time (see photos) I gave photos and brought a piece in person for reference. Not once did I ever ask for what you see pictured below. Not in a million years. Hana let me walk out the door that way, which is shocking. So, yes, again it had to be corrected and it has NOTHING to do with that I wanted that. These things should never happen to begin with is the point.

This was truly an incredible experience. The shop is beautiful with an inviting and calming atmosphere and they have a huge selection of products! Legit, there is something for everyone. But the most impressive and impactful part for me was the staff. We worked with Helen who was so kind and engaging that it truly made the experience so much fun. And we also had the chance to work with Ms Hana who is such a wealth of information and knowledge. I was so thankful for them for making the experience a positive one. I highly recommend!
