I have debated whether or not to post, but at the end of the day, I want to help others make informed decisions if someone like me is ever in this situation and looking for the right place to land.
If you have alopecia or trichotillomania, live over 2 hours away, do not want to have to drive another 2 hours to have them fix extreme color issues two weeks before an event, do not appreciate being told it’s a bad idea to expect $500 or $600 results when coming in so close to an event (what?!), then Hana Designs is definitely not where you should go. My rating is not to say that others who see her/go there don’t get help with their specific needs, but this is just my own experience. Overall I have spent at least:
$2000 plus on 4 appointments
$500 on 2 topper color/wash/cuts
$500 in product
10 hours to and from 4 appointments
5 more hours to and from “fix” appointments for major color mishaps
$500 in gratuities (including on “fix” appointments)
Each time I have gone for an overhaul, it has been clear I am going to celebrate my 50th or for my daughter’s college graduation. I should not have to explain why it is important for my $500 hair appointment to look that expensive when I walk out the door. But I always do and they are aware.
Hana doesn’t care about my experience, or she would not have let this happen to begin with, and especially never ever let me walk out the door like this after seeing it fully and collecting my $600. All she did after I brought it to her attention was offer to have the same colorist fix it, which was a hard no. Hello? See photos below. If a business owner cannot afford enough time to fix major color issues herself, she should not put clients with colorists who cannot color to begin with, let alone charge so much money to be with them.
I have posted photos of the last visit. This is what I paid $500 for, had to drive back 2.5 hours for, end up with no highlights (better than patches, streaks and two tone hair and a third color “rim” around my frame). After which I was told by Hana that she would not be booking me any future appointments. She stated that it is because the only stylist they have who knows how to color is only there once a week and “they discussed it and both agreed I would not be understanding if the stylist had to cancel on me at the last minute”. Um, you’re absolutely right-I am not into “standby” hair appointments! I’m glad she made that call though, because after two times now I should not have been so trusting. By the way, this is how they handled things even with being nothin but kind, polite, patient and professional about THEIR problem. Never heard an apology ever.
For anyone who may be able to relate, I’d steer clear of this place.
Hope this helps someone else out there who expects to get what they pay for.

This was truly an incredible experience. The shop is beautiful with an inviting and calming atmosphere and they have a huge selection of products! Legit, there is something for everyone. But the most impressive and impactful part for me was the staff. We worked with Helen who was so kind and engaging that it truly made the experience so much fun. And we also had the chance to work with Ms Hana who is such a wealth of information and knowledge. I was so thankful for them for making the experience a positive one. I highly recommend!

I recently had the privilege of visiting Hana Designs to receive a wig through Hana’s Hope, their nonprofit program that helps individuals coping with hair loss. As someone currently going through cancer treatment and experiencing hair loss, this was a very emotional step for me, and Hana made the experience incredibly positive.
From the moment I walked in, I was treated with kindness, compassion, and genuine care. She took the time to help me find a wig that felt comfortable and looked natural, and made sure I felt confident wearing it.
I am deeply grateful for Hana’s Hope. Receiving a wig at no cost during such a challenging time means more than words can express. Thank you to Hana at Hana Designs for your warmth, professionalism, and for helping me feel beautiful and like myself again.

I was beyond impressed upon coming to this salon. She was attentive understanding and made me feel at ease when I was feeling low and overwhelmed. She offers an amazing selection of wigs varying from synthetic to real human hair. I was taught more in my initial appointment that I have ever been informed of even with my prior extensive research. I never expected to walk out wearing a wig feeling so confident and beautiful! I highly recommend, their professionalism is impeccable.

I'm not one to go out of my way to provide a particularly negative review, however I think about my negative experience frequently. I bought a wig online and carefully chose Hana Designs (driving almost 2 hours away) due to the great reviews in order to ensure my new 24" wig was well taken care of. However, from the first phone call, I noticed how rushed and stressed Hana sounded. When I told her I wanted a few inches off, she replied "A FEW INCHES?!" as if that was unrealistic ask. I shrugged it off and decided to go through with my appointment. I was asked what I wanted done with my hair and I said I wanted it to look more realistic for me (I've never had hair longer than my shoulders) and she replied that I should keep it long if I wanted to. The entire time I felt afraid of asking for more hair cut off because she seemed so insistent on keeping the length. I left with my hair still longer than I'd liked, and, with much hesitancy, decided to call and ask for more hair to be cut off. I mean, I'd paid $250+ to have my hair done I'd better make sure I was satisfied (and I thought Hana would feel the same way). However, I ended up in tears on the phone because of how inconvenienced Hana made me feel. I had to drop off the hair, and then return later to pick it up because she said she "didn't have enough time to do it while I was there". Overall, I just felt like my presence was inconvenient to her and she rushed to get me out the door. I am still unsatisfied with the finished product (hair was lopsided with no layers, because I was not there during the cut and I'm sure the job was rushed). I am now in the process of ordering shears to thin out the ends by myself because frankly I don't have the money to go somewhere else. I provided 2 stars because she does have great skills in cutting hair, however my experience was so negative I thought I needed to at least tell my story. I will not be returning.
