HOW LASER VEIN TREATMENT WORKS. The Lux 1064 delivers energy into the blood and vessel walls, where it is absorbed by hemoglobin. With each pulse, the hemoglobin is heated by the absorption of energy, and the vessel coagulates and closes off. The constricted vessel then degenerates, and the treated leg veins typically disappear from the surface of the skin. This takes only a few minutes to treat each discolored vein. Depending upon the severity of the veins, you may require between 1 and 3 laser treatments, spaced at 2-4 weeks apart. The treatment is performed on the existing blood vessels, diminishing or completely eliminating their appearance. However, any new developing veins cannot be prevented. WHAT TO EXPECT Most people describe laser vein removal as mildly uncomfortable but not painful. However, we can provide anesthetic to our patients who request it. Patients may experience temporary redness, swelling or bruising. This doesn't happen often, and is typically gone within a few hours. Others may experience pigmentary changes in skin color, but these will disappear and return to normal over time. Since laser treatment does not burn or cut the skin in any way, no bandages are necessary and you can return to your normal activities immediately.

LASER VEIN TREATMENT SCLEROTHERAPY HOW SCLEROTHERAPY WORKS A liquid solution is slowly inserted into the appropriate vein. The solution irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to swell shut and block the flow of blood. WHAT TO EXPECT Sclerotherapy requires multiple sessions, and can be performed on an outpatient basis. One to three treatments are usually required to effectively treat any vein. Post-treatment therapy includes wearing bandages and support hose for two days - two weeks following treatment. The treated blood vessels disappear over a period of six months.

WHAT IS RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION? The ClosureFast procedure is performed on an outpatient basis. Using ultrasound, your physician will position the catheter into the diseased vein through a small opening in th skin. The small catheter delivers heat to the vein wall, causing it to shrink and the vein to seal closed. Once the diseased vein is closed, blood will reroute itself to other healthy veins. Following the procedure, a simple bandage is placed over the insertion site, and additional compression may be provided to aid healing. Your doctor may encourage you to walk, and to refrain from extended standing and strenuous activities for a period of time. The average patient typically resumes normal activities within a few days. FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO VENOUS REFLUX -Age -Gender -Family History -Heavy Lifting -Multiple Pregnancies -Obesity -Prolonged Standing STUDIES HAVE SHOWN -Relief of symptoms after two days -Less pain than laser- an outpatient procedure with local or general anesthesia -Proven results with positive patient outcomes and experience -Rapid Recovery- on average patients resume normal activities within a few days.

The VenaSeal™ closure system offers relief for patients suffering from chronic venous insufficiency by using a proprietary medical adhesive to permanently close the diseased vein. With no need for heat, the VenaSeal procedure delivers a comfortable patient experience and immediate vein closure. IMMEDIATE CLOSURE The VenaSeal closure system provides immediate vein closure, delivering consistent and reproducible results for your patients without the need for post-procedure compression stockings.* PRECISION The proprietary catheter is highly visible under ultrasound, allowing precise delivery of the adhesive. The dispensing gun precisely controls the amount of adhesive, delivering 0.10 cc aliquots with each trigger pull. POLYMERIZATION Upon contact with blood, the adhesive begins to bond with the intima and compression is applied to close the vein. The adhesive was designed to remain permanently in the diseased vein and is encapsulated by chronic fibrosis. VISCOSITY & FLEXIBILITY The viscosity of the adhesive is specifically designed to minimize migration and embolization. The adhesive is designed to be soft and flexible, and less likely to be felt by the patient. DESIGNED FOR PATIENT COMFORT The VenaSeal closure system procedure offers: Rapid return to normal activities after treatment Minimized pain, tenderness and ecchymosis Significant improvements in quality of life The VenaSeal closure system procedure eliminates: Tumescent anesthesia Thermal nerve injury Post-procedure compression stockings*

When it comes to treating varicose veins and getting back to the activities you love, there’s a new, nearly painless way. Varithena is a gentle microfoam treatment delivered in as few as 1-2 needle sticks. Patients reporting pain at the injection or application site in clinical trials was 4.0%. For most people, Varithena improves both physical symptoms related to varicose veins, and their appearance. Putting your needs front and center, the fast, minimally invasive treatment allows you to do something about your varicose veins your way—with little to no downtime. Please note that you should not be treated with Varithena if you’re allergic to polidocanol or have clots in your blood vessels. TREATMENT & RESULTS Thousands of people who want to feel and look their best choose Varithena. It’s covered by most Medicare and insurance plans, and the quick treatment means that most people can get right back to their days. Learn what happens during and after the procedure and see before-and-after photos. There are no incisions, sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Goldberg may recommend Varithena, because unlike thermal ablation, it: Is effective to treat veins of different sizes up and down your leg Doesn’t need a wire to be inserted along the length of your vein Is given in as little as one or two needle sticks per treatment Doesn’t use heat, eliminating the risk of burns And unlike glue, Varithena dissolves in the bloodstream after treatment, leaving nothing permanently in your vein. HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT Before the Treatment: The physician usually numbs the injection site, but no additional anesthesia is required. During Treatment: Your physician administers a small amount of Varithena. The Varithena microfoam fills the desired section of the vein and treats the vein wall, causing the diseased vein to collapse. Blood flow is redirected to healthier nearby veins. The microfoam disperses as it comes into contact with blood in healthy veins. Your physician uses the same process on any other veins that need treatment. The most common side effects are leg pain or discomfort, injection site bruising or pain, and potentially serious blood clots in the leg veins. After Treatment: While allergic reactions are rare, a healthcare professional will watch you for signs of an allergic reaction for at least 10 minutes. Your physician applies bandages and compression stockings to your leg. You’ll wear the stockings for two weeks. Because Varithena is minimally invasive and well tolerated by most people, you’re likely to go back to most normal activities the same day. You should avoid heavy exercise for one week. For a month, you should walk at least 10 minutes a day and avoid long stretches of inactivity. Additional treatment sessions may be needed.

We offer skin treatments for AGING & SUN DAMAGE... Age Spots are also called Liver or Brown Spots. They vary in size and can appear on the hands, face, shoulders and arms, located predominately on areas most frequently exposed to the sun. Age Spots are very common in adults older than 50, but younger people can get them too. Often made worse by hormonal imbalance, they are mostly harmless. Our staff will carefully review the area and recommend a treatment plan based on their assessment. Treatment Options INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL) This treatment fades pigmentation and treats brown spots with a gentle light. Areas of sun damage are dramatically improved. IPL also treats acne, rosacea, facial veins and areas of redness or inflammation. As a result, the skin is also tightened due to collagen stimulation. FRACTIONAL LASER This state-of-the-art treatment evens out skin tone, reverses sun damage, removes scar tissue and acne scarring, eliminates redness and other hyper-pigmentation conditions. Additionally, the treatment is an excellent anti-aging technology that improves facial wrinkles.

We offer skin treatments for ROSACEA & FACIAL VEINS... Rosacea is a common skin condition that causes visible blood vessels and redness in your face. It can also produce small, red bumps. Often this symptom flares up for weeks or months and then subsides. It can occur in anyone, but mostly affects fair-skinned middle-aged women. There is no cure for rosacea, but we do offer effective treatment. Facial veins can also appear, causing redness of the skin. Our staff will carefully review the area and recommend a treatment plan based on their assessment. We offer skin treatments for STRETCH MARKS... Stretch Marks are very common indented streaks that often appear on the abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks and thighs. They are particularly common in pregnant women, especially during the last trimester. Stretch marks aren't painful or harmful, but some people feel distressed about the way they make their skin look. We offer treatment to help make stretch marks fade. We offer skin treatments for ACNE + SURGICAL SCARRING... Stretch Marks are very common indented streaks that often appear on the abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks and thighs. They are particularly common in pregnant women, especially during the last trimester. Stretch marks aren't painful or harmful, but some people feel distressed about the way they make their skin look. Acne scars are most often the product of an inflamed lesion. Inflamed blemishes occur when the follicle, or pore, becomes engorged with excess oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. The pore swells, causing a break in the follicle wall. If the rupture occurs near the skin's surface, the lesion is usually minor and heals quickly. However, more serious lesions arise when there is a deep break in the follicle wall. The infected material spills out into the dermis and destroys healthy skin tissue. We offer treatment to help make Stretch Marks and Acne Scars fade. Our staff will carefully review the area and recommend a treatment plan based on their assessment. Additionally, the treatment is an excellent anti-aging technology that improves facial wrinkles. MICRONEEDLING Micro needling stimulates your skin’s natural ability to heal itself and in the process produces collagen (strength) and elastin (firmness). This repair process does can be used on basically all skin types, resulting in a thicker dermis to treat acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles and stretch marks.

Collagen Induction therapy a new way to make collagen Collagen Induction Therapy is used to improve: • Texture and tone • Surface scarring • Fine wrinkles How does it work? Collagen Induction Therapy is based on the use of tiny needles to create micro channels (tiny holes) in the top layer of the skin. The process stimulates your skin’s natural ability to heal itself and in the process produces collagen (strength) and elastin (firmness). This repair process does not hurt and begins almost immediately, resulting in a thicker dermis and softened wrinkles or scars. It can be used on basically all skin types to treat acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles and stretch marks. There is no tissue destruction with micro needling. The small channels in the epidermis close very quickly and the skin begins a healing response right away. Depending on the depth of the skin defect, you may see only redness or you may experience some pinpoint bleeding which stops almost immediately. An outstanding product absorption booster These superficial micro-channels also allow topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively into the skin. Specific treatment products can be selected to achieve accelerated results. Is Collagen Induction Therapy new? Collagen Induction Therapy, or Micro needling, has been used for decades in Europe in various forms, from blocked stamps to hand rollers to the new automated pens that make the process fast, consistent and for the most part, quite comfortable. Only in recent years have the public and physicians embraced the concept. (It’s almost as if something so simple couldn’t possibly work well, right?) But we’re discovering that this simple action of creating a tiny wound without heat or any other high technology works remarkably well. What to expect: Compared to resurfacing lasers, microdermabrasion, or peels, in-office microneedling has very little downtime. There may be some redness that appears several hours after the treatment, but any tenderness or discomfort is minimal. Dr. Chwalek says that topical numbing cream is often applied prior to treatment to lessen the slight stinging sensation. How often: For the treatment of acne scars, stretch marks, and wrinkles, it is recommended you get treated every four to six weeks since it can take a few treatments to see results. It may also take several treatments to see better firmness or elasticity, but results can be long-lasting.
