Anyone who looks at my review history can see this was clearly a one-off experience. Upon walking into the store, we weren’t greeted with a particularly welcoming demeanor. Instead, we were met with visible frustration and the immediate question, “Did you check in online?” Everyone has an off day—understood and not a dealbreaker. The issue arose during my dad’s haircut. He requested a blended men’s cut. As the neckline was finished and the hair was being blown away, it looked exactly like a previous cut he had been unhappy with. Having heard that complaint before, I calmly stood up to mention that he was hoping for more blending and a smoother transition in the cut. I was immediately interrupted with a sharp “I’m not done yet.” Fair enough—but the tone felt unnecessarily dismissive and escalated the situation rather than diffusing it. This is customer service, and communication matters just as much as technical skill. I tried to ease the tension by saying I’d step outside, and the response was “Yes, please,” delivered in a way that felt unprofessional and inappropriate given the situation. Mistakes or miscommunications can happen anywhere. What made this experience disappointing was the lack of professionalism and basic courtesy. This could have been resolved quickly with a simple, respectful exchange. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as this experience does not reflect the level of service one would expect.

Maya and Alma greeted me right away and I was checked in quickly. Maya cut my hair and she did a great job. I was very pleased with my haircut. Maya and Alma were really friendly and I really appreciated their friendliness. I would recommend going to your Great Clips because they were very friendly and also provided a great haircut. Online Check-In can be used for all services except perms and formal updos. Please note that not all salons offer perms. Most salons require an appointment for these services, so please call your local Great Clips salon to inquire.
Can I request a stylist using Online Check-In?
No. For the stylist’s safety, we do not publish their schedules or allow customers to request them using Online Check-In. Great Clips salons use Clip Notes®, which keeps track of any previous haircut you received at a Great Clips salon, so any stylist can give you a great haircut. If you would like to request a particular stylist, be sure to say that when you arrive at the salon and finish your check-in. Note that requesting a stylist may increase your estimated wait time.
If I checked in online, do I need to do anything when I arrive at the salon?
Once you arrive, check in at the receptionist desk to let the stylists know you're there. They will finish checking you in at that time.
