It started out with a woman named Maria, who greeted us when my husband and I came in, asking if we had booked online. We said no, and she looked annoyed, like it was a major inconvenience to have to walk away from her male client to come to the register and put in our number and info, despite walk ins supposed to be welcomed. She curtly asked if I was getting a hair cut and I explained I just wanted my under shave cleaned up and she flatly said "yeah that's a hair cut" as if she thought I was stupid. As she was putting our info in a man with three kids came in and while she was flat and seemed annoyed by my presence, she immediately switched modes and was nice to the man after us even though he also was a walk in. Take note that when she was done with her previous male client that looked to be an overall trim, she rang him up as $9.99. Fortunately for me, I got a wonderful stylist named Frank instead of her, and from the moment we started talking, it was like night and day. He was nice, communicative and understood what I wanted. He made me laugh and I was immediately comfortable with him, as if he was an old friend, which is a big deal to me, as I have social anxiety, and interactions with new people is always stressful even without how Maria had previously behaved, but he was a delightful breath of fresh air. After making sure twice that I was happy with my shave, we walked over to the register, and the system that Maria had been the one to set up, had me rung up to be charged $18. Keep in mind I only had about 25% of my hair shaved down, while her client earlier had his whole head trimmed and he was charged $9.99??? Without having anyone even mention anything, Frank immediately caught it and brought the price down to $8. It feels like Maria was trying to upcharge me simply for what, being female? I have no idea, but needless to say I gave Frank a $20 tip and I intend on coming back to him every time I need a clean up, he was amazing <3 Maria however, needs to do better. She made me feel like an inconvenience.
