I’m giving them two stars instead of one because there are some stylists there who know what they’re doing, but they’re few and far between.
I’ve been going there for about 6 years now, but over the past year, it’s been a mixed bag in terms of the stylist getting it right, trending toward doing badly.
Most recently, I went in for a baby cut for my 1.5-year-old, and a classic crew cut for myself. I showed her a picture of what I wanted for the Crew Cut.
Nicole went way too fast with her buzzer, and my son’s hair was uneven, shaved deeper on one side than the other, and went way too high on one side at the base of the neck. The same thing happened on mine - moving too fast, not checking for balance - and my “crew cut” left me with a cross between an undercut, bowl cut, and a raccoon’s nest on my head - absolutely awful. I told her to stop, even out the top, then leave it alone.
I will not be returning again.

Jessica did not do what we asked her to do with my son’s hair. We showed her a photo of a low taper fade and asked her to purposefully keep the bulk of his hair on the top and back. Myself and my son both said his cowlick was super high and to please not cut close to it. She literally shaved up to his cowlick. The back of his head was all a single 1 inch, not a fade at all and she cut WAY too much of his hair off. After I saw how much she had shaved the back, I went up and asked her not to cut any off the top and front. She apologized at check out, but didn’t offer to give us a discount. We will not be back to Great Clips. The first photo is what we showed her, the 2nd is my son after the cut she gave him. Not happy.

Beware of the Providence Great Clips! We were charged $70 for a service we never asked for, never got. When I questioned it, the stylist — who is also the store manager — told me “I guess I should have told her” and claimed she had to charge us or she’d “lose her job.”
I was promised a call from the district manager that never came. After multiple follow-ups, the store manager dodged questions and then told me she didn’t even know who the franchise owner was or the name of the franchise. How does a store manager not know who they work for? Completely ridiculous. (Although when I called back today the employee that answered was able to give me that information.) Eventually, I was told I’d get a call “sometime” because the district manager has “so many stores.”
The worst part? While I was picking up food next door with my kids, I saw both the store manager and the district manager just sitting in the lobby and at the register chatting with no customers in the store. Clearly, calling me back wasn’t a priority.
This location is dishonest, unprofessional, and avoids accountability. Double-check your prices, because they will overcharge you and then brush you off.
