  I had an appointment booked for a color remover and full set of highlights, but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. After arriving, they did a test strand and found my black box dye wouldn’t lift well, which I understand can happen. However, I was then told my only options were warm highlights or none—and even then, they could only do the crown of my head, despite me booking a full highlight in advance. This was really frustrating because I had to arrange childcare for my baby, drive an hour, and wait two weeks for this appointment. Better communication ahead of time would have made a big difference. The stylist, Christina Russel, seemed disengaged and didn’t communicate much during the appointment. She also mentioned a previous client experiencing damage and hair loss during a color correction, which wasn’t reassuring. I also felt the service itself was a bit rough at times. I will say the instructor was very kind and offered a complimentary wash, conditioning treatment, blow dry, and style, which I appreciated. Overall, I understand that not all hair goals can be achieved in one visit, but the lack of communication and professionalism made this a frustrating experience.

  Wonderful appointment. Rachel does exceptional work. She's very professional and talented. She is a delightful young woman. Brian, her supervisor, was great, too. Gave good advice on my unusual request for braids. A new creation and it's beautiful. I highly recommend Tennessee School of Beauty. Their service is outstanding and the teachers and students are welcoming and supportive of their colleagues. Plans to return to TSB soon.

  I had my haircut for the first time at the school today, and it was absolutely wonderful. Ally was so friendly and personable. She asked questions and requested feedback throughout the whole cut; making sure I was completely happy with the process & results. I believe Kristi (so sorry if that’s incorrect) was the instructor that worked with us, and she was also very good. I will most definitely return for more services. My daughter got her hair trimmed by Wade while I got my cut, and was also very pleased with her services and results. Thank you so very much to everybody we interacted with, everyone was great.

  I asked for 2 inches off with some layers, ended with my hair chopped at all different lengths and about 4 inches taken off. Now my long hair is a horrible bob. Absolutely devastated. I understand their students but from 2 to 4 inches is a big jump and if she didn’t know how to do layers she could have asked the instructor that just signed off and left. Also, I was left with the bottom of my hair in a W shape so you can imagine how bad it was. I had hair coming to the very bottom of my back that is now barely below my shoulders. And all I said was 2 inches off!

  I had a wash, cut and blow-dry appointment here with Lauren Nettles. This was my first time at TSOB, and let me tell you, she is my new favorite hairdresser!! I loved how she made sure that the length and face frame was exactly what I wanted. She was so gentle even when brushing out my tangled, fine hair. Lauren even did an amazing scalp massage while washing my hair. It was so unbelievably relaxing and felt like I was at a spa. At the end of my cut, she recommended certain products but there was no push to buy anything today. I will keep these in mind for next time I come. They also have specials in April at the school including: 20% off manicures and pedicures and 15% Redken shampoos and conditioners. I already cannot wait to come back and get highlights done with Lauren!!
