  I truthfully am not one to leave Google reviews unless I am given absolutely outstanding service or I am concerned with something negative that happened. I was visiting town with my friend today and we decided to go into Studs to get earrings together. The staff themselves seemed very kind and we weren't treated poorly in terms of our interactions with them. We were upset over the fact that the pricing transparency is quite poor here. As an example, the price list for the earrings we were viewing stated that the price was "$95". Considering that we were being told the earrings were a pair and they were being referred to as multiple earrings, NOT INDIVIDUAL EARRINGS, we were very surprised that upon checking out it was $95 PER EARRING. In other words, $190 total for one pair. We purchased the earrings anyways because the staff member spent a good bit of time kindly packaging the earrings for us and we were trying to justify that it was a special treat before my friend left for PA school. They are also supposed to be high quality and gold plated so they considered as long lasting. Unfortunately, we soon found out that the flat back earrings couldn't fit into our earring holes because the backs of the studs were much bigger than a normal earring hole. My friend actually made her earring hole bleed trying to push them through (she was doing it correctly as instructed), and it was slightly painful for me as well. This was frustrating considering they were $190 and non-refundable. The earrings aren't ugly by any means and as I said, the staff seemed nice enough, but please do your research and ask for a transparent price before purchasing so you are not caught off guard and charged more than expected. I don't blame the staff members as they are likely only doing their jobs as instructed, but I did see that another review posted recently had a similar problem concerning the price transparency so this is obviously not a new problem. I am not trying to speak poorly regarding this business as I have many friends who love it. I simply hope that they will resolve this issue so that future customers don't feel they've been taken advantage of and not fully informed of what they are paying for.

  I had an amazing experience at Studs Charleston! They have great quality earrings and Mallory was fabulous!

  Horrible customer service. We were in Charleston for spring break and to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. All she wanted was her ears pierced for her birthday. They said they could take us but then we learned that a birth certificate was necessary so we left. We found a photo of her birth certificate no more than 5 minutes later and ran back. They told us they were closing early (it was 3:18pm) and they could not take her. This was a powerful customer service lesson for my 14 year old and I hope she never makes anyone feel the way she felt today. The young girls running this place need a lesson is service and compassion.

  Got both of my lobes done and really appreciated the patience that the employees had with helping me get the placement just like I wanted. Pricing here though is insane !!! $170 for both lines and some jewelry. Crazy !!! Then at check out they give you a little goody bag and stuff which I thought was nice until I looked at the receipt and they charge you for everything that’s in it.
