This happened a while ago, but I went there with my sister and she was asking an employee for help. They talked for a bit then the worker turned around asking if I was a sibling and I said yes. The employee looked at me up and down and asked why I wasn't like my sister (they meant why I didn't had makeup, good hair and style)... I simply replied I just did a 8 hours shift at a kitchen and I did not had time to look pretty to shop. I always think about that situation whenever I go to Sephora and I just feel like every employee are going to be there to judge. Do better please. That person completely ruined my Sephora in-store shopping forever.

Today I had a very unusual experience at Sephora — not the kind I’m used to having. I went there for three reasons: to return a product that caused an allergic reaction (Caudalie Resveratrol Serum), to exchange a YSL bronzer, and to pick up a few products I was missing.
I understand that Sephora stores can get quite hectic, but in the past, the staff always seemed more attentive and eager to help. The first girl who assisted me (I wish I remembered her name) didn’t have the best attitude. I asked for help finding my correct shade of the YSL bronzer, since I was unsure between 03 and 04. Her response focused on the appearance of my skin — she mentioned that because of my breakouts, I should use a formula without talc and recommended a different product instead.
First of all, my skin was irritated because of the Caudalie serum, and second, I’m pregnant — hormones change everything! She tested both shades on me but didn’t realize they were actually the same. I had to point it out myself. Then she went to check for stock and told me they didn’t have any, without even looking in the drawers below. She had also recommended a Givenchy bronzer earlier, and I had to remind her about it. Honestly, I got tired of the lack of professionalism and effort.
After walking around for a bit, I found Richie or Niky (I’m not sure of the name) — my absolute angel! She helped me with everything, answered my questions, and even introduced me to a new product.
At checkout, Naha or Nala was also wonderful — truly the best part of my day.
I really hope the store can work on improving situations like the first one. I’m totally team in-store shopping because I love seeing the products in person, talking with beauty experts, and getting personalized advice — plus it helps avoid unnecessary returns and wasted products.

UPDATE: They gave me a $25 credit, but then I couldn't access it because they put it in US funds even though I was very clear about my location. So, I had to call again - long wait times - only to find that, after they put it in Cdn $, I couldn't access my account. I tried resetting my password eight times. Finally the phone rep said to try another time. I had planned on going to Sephora today, but no luck accessing my credit even with help from customer service. Not a fan of Sephora.
UPDATE: On Nov. 5th, I was sent, "Please allow up to 7 business days so they may fully research your concerns and respond with a resolution". Twelve days later and I've heard nothing. It's easy for a store to get 5 stars when there are no issues. It's when there are issues that a store shows its true worth.
thSephora St. Catherine street is seriously messed up. I bought a $400 hair product and was told they'd email the receipt. They didn't. I called and they said they couldn't email a receipt. They could print it out and I'd have to go back and get it (there's a bus strike, it took me 3 hours to get there and back). I asked why they can't just print it, scan it and email it to me. They can't. No better explanation than that. So they gave me a number and said customer service can send it to me. They gave me the wrong number. But then I got the right number only to be told that they too couldn't send me the receipt and they themselves couldn't understand why St. Catherine st couldn't send it. So they suggested I call back and ask for the manager. That person wasn't there but the asst manager was and she said the whole thing over again - they'll print it, I can pick up, then customer service can help. So after telling the asst manager that 1) it took 3 hours to get there and back 2) I called, was given the wrong number then the right number - hence, four calls 3) I was on the phone for close to an hour - she didn't even have the good sense to say, let me take your phone number and fix this for you. Wow, never ever ever again will I bother returning. There's MAC for makeup and Best Buy for stylers. I don't need the hassle from Sephora.
