  I would recommend finding a better hair salon. Unfortunately, my experience at Tonic Salon was rocky from the start. The biggest issue was their rigid cancellation policy—life happens, and one cancellation shouldn’t lead to the level of hostility we experienced. Especially a men’s cut my husband canceled due to scheduling issues. Additionally, they intentionally call under the 24-hour cancellation window to “remind” you of your appointment, and if you express that you may need to cancel, they immediately say they’ll have to charge you. What’s the point of calling at all if that’s the case? It left a really negative impression. You would think 5-6+ appointments per year would be enough profit for them to give the courtesy of a cancellation now and then, particularly with the opportunity to just rebook the appointment. Overall professionalism is lacking. On top of that, my stylist repeatedly only offered a full color service. Even after waiting 2+ days to wash my hair, the dye would still transfer during the wash and stain towels when drying. After switching to a higher-quality stylist elsewhere, I learned this shouldn’t be happening; there was minimal to no color transfer, and I was told I’d only need a full color every 6–10 months. In between, I could maintain my color with far less expensive services like a toner or root smudge. Overall, the salon felt more focused on profit than on providing honest guidance or a quality experience. I’d suggest looking for a salon that prioritizes quality, transparency, and long term client relationships.

  Steve is hands down the BEST of the best when it comes to extensions. His installs are unbelievably clean, seamless, and so natural-looking. People never believe me when I say I have extensions! What I love the most is how much he prioritizes the health of your natural hair. I’ve had other stylists ruin my hair and scalp from improper techniques but I never need to worry about that with Steve. He’s extremely knowledgeable, is always continuing his education so you have the best techniques and overall, he just makes the whole experience enjoyable. If you’re thinking about extensions, don’t waste your time going anywhere else, Steve is IT!

  Best stylist and salon in Pittsburgh, hands down! Steven is an absolute gem and so talented—the most unbelievable color stylist I’ve ever had. He works magic with my blonde and I always leave the salon feeling like a million bucks. If you get a chance to have your hair done here you won’t be disappointed.
