i visited the store around 7pm (time of receipt) on January 16. The name on the receipt (i never caught the name) says Maze, they need to be recognized!!!! They were alone on the floor, and already assisting another customer, but still took a moment to greet me. When Maze finished up with the customer, they promptly addressed me and inquired if I needed assistance. I knew that recently Mac had changed their formula (they told me about the removal of Talc from powder formulas being the change), and I was hoping to get assistance with colour matching again. I found the previous formula to be very pasty looking (I’m fair but surprisingly neutral undertones - i was expecting pink). Maze was so very well educated with the products, was patient with the test colours, and even though the original shade i had ended up being a better match with the new formula, not once did Maze ever make me feel like I inconvenienced them. I had additional questions and Maze suggested some other products to resolve my concerns. Lastly, i have an old cream concealer that had been discontinued, so Maze provided an equivalent shade sample in a product most similar to the cream one I had. Maze even updated me on the new version of the recycling program at Mac (i hadnt purchased foundation since recycling gave you a free lipstick). At no point did I feel pressured into purchasing products (my biggest pet peeve, even when I worked retail and was told to do so for the sake of sales. As a customer, i hate nothing more than feeling pressured to purchase more than I initially intend to), and because of that, I will happily visit this location again.
I had to provide details of the assistance and amazing customer service because Maze went above and beyond. I have worked over a decade in retail myself, almost half of it as an assistant manager. I can genuinely say I would have climbed Mount Everest to have staff members like Maze. Not only was this an amazing example of customer service done right, but a truly proud moment for Mac to have Maze be a representation of the company at this location.
The photo is the difference between the old and new formula. the full one is the new one without talc, in colour NC10. Not easy to tell via photo, but the old formula is more on the white side, it was very ghostly looking on my skin. New one matches perfectly (ive been wearing it for a week now).
