  Bad from the time I stepped through the door. I walked in and was greeted with a “why are you here” type of attitude with zero eye contact, even though I had an appointment. The guy was a total snob and patronizing and the look he gave me when I told him how I wanted my ear pierced was insulting. (It was a standard piercing but I guess he thought it wasn’t for me.) I was also doing a jewelry switch out but he told me I had to buy one of their studs for this. That surprised me because I’ve always been able to use my own at other places, which I love and it’s high quality. The jewelry there is not great. It looks better online. The whole store looks better online. So I used this opportunity to cancel my appointment. Was grateful I took this opportunity. And, of course he gave me a patronizing “have a nice day”. Dear Studs, the staff doing the piercing need to have a trusting, kind and supportive demeanor so that people feel comfortable being in such close proximity!

  If you are reading this and considering a piercing at STUDS, I am begging you to reconsider. I have had a few helix piercings from here, the oldest is now more than 18 months old and none of them have healed. Meanwhile, I have healed two daiths (both now 10yrs old!), a helix, and rook, which are all tricky--so all I can really attribute it to is a fact I could see but didn't want to admit to at the time, they were done crooked and my body struggled to heal a piercing that wasn't performed 90 deg. perpendicular to that portion of the ear. I think part of the issue is that because this a corporation, the piercers won't even tell you when they've given a subpar service. They'll just send you off and take the next customer. Please if you have sensitive skin or are hesitant at all, visit a piercer who has had more than a 6-week "apprenticeship". This is NYC so it is not hard to find an APP (Association of Professional Piercers) Certified piercer, or at least one who uses APP Certified materials. Your body will thank you. Lastly, if you can afford not to (I get that everyone's financial situation is different) why support a corporate grown-up Claire's knock-off when you could go to the independent professionals that developed and perfected this field? Again, it's NYC and we have the privilege of choice. I was blinded by the cute aesthetic and relative affordability but after taking out 3 sloppily done piercings that I tried to heal for more than a year (and even one for my mom) I won't make that mistake again.

  I had such a great experience! When I first walked in I explained how I wasn’t sure which piercing I wanted and the piercer came out to help. She explained that certain piercings wouldn’t work based on my ear anatomy. She then explained the piercing I ended up getting worked best for my ear. She was very professional, but also so friendly. She walked me through everything she was doing. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking to get an ear piercing, to go here!

  My experience at Studs is always amazing. I’ve been going to this particular store since August 2024. Everyone that works there is so nice, accommodating, welcoming and professional. I decided to have a birthday piercing party there this August and it was such a vibe. All of my guest left out looking and feeling great. The manager, Eddie was very attentive and patient with me with all of the things I wanted for the party. DJ. Also was very patient and informative with my guest. Especially the ones that were unsure of what jewelry they should get. Alex did very well. Ashley is my piercer. She adopted me when my original piercer left that studio. She is mild mannered and tolerant of my whims. I now have 11 piercings from studs. 17 all together. Thank you Studs. I’ll see you soon.
