My sisters and I visited this store on 11/10/2025. We felt so uncomfortable throughout our entire shopping experience as the associates kept following us around the store to ensure we were not stealing. We felt racially profiled at this location because instead of them asking if we needed any assistance they continued to follow us around and it wasn't until they spent a good amount of time following, when various employees asked us if we were doing OK. There were about three associates just standing and staring at us as we looked and touched products. Once we got to the cashier to pay the associate at the register whispered something in her walkie so that we could not hear- we could only assume it was about us. What a disappointment of experience this was and extremely uncomfortable!! Shame on this location and the way the staff is trained to just follow people around to the point they feel uncomfortable to even touch a product!

I’ve never experienced anything as unprofessional as the Sephora on Madison. The store floor looked less like a workplace and more like a high school hallway — employees standing around chatting, laughing, and ignoring customers. No one offered help or even acknowledged me.
What was even more disturbing was the behavior of the supervisor, Melissa. She was loudly and casually using the N-word in front of customers while joking with coworkers. Melissa is a non-Black Hispanic woman, yet she felt comfortable repeatedly using a racial slur in a workplace while representing Sephora. As a Black biracial woman, even I choose to be mindful of that word — so to hear it thrown around so casually by someone in a leadership role was not only offensive, it was disrespectful and embarrassing for your brand.
When I calmly told her the language was inappropriate, she brushed me off with a dismissive “sorry,” as if racial slurs in the workplace were no big deal. The lack of accountability was astounding.
The only professional person in the entire store was the cashier at the front. Everyone else seemed employed based on personal friendships rather than skill or professionalism. The store culture felt cliquey, juvenile, and chaotic — absolutely not what Sephora claims to stand for.
If Sephora is comfortable having supervisors who use racial slurs in front of customers and staff, then Sephora needs to reevaluate its hiring, training, and management standards immediately.
I will not be returning to this location, and I will be escalating this to corporate. This was disgraceful.

This review is mainly about the makeup service. Bottom line: if you need makeup application dont go here. The overall environment and attitude is not up to tier with the other locations.
The process: I hate to say it but the makeup artist seemed amateur and did not know what she was doing. She kept caking on endless amounts of foundation and concealer each time she wanted to clean up, she reached for concealer..she didnt add eyeliner or mascara...When she was done, I asked her if she was going to add mascara..she said she can and proceeded to pull out a ziplock nag of products.....Like what???! In the end I knew I was going to have to redo myself so I said nevermind and ran out. On top of that, I wanted to but the lip liner to redo at home and she gave me the wrong color. I ran to the 5th Ave location to wipe off the makeup and buy products to recreate at home.
