    Extremely disappointing experience at Sephora. I was followed around the store by security for no reason, which made me feel targeted and uncomfortable the entire time. I overheard him on the walkie-talkie instructing other employees to keep an eye out for the woman in the black jacket (Me) As a minority, this interaction felt like racial profiling and was extremely humiliating and frightening. Shopping should not feel like this. Management seriously needs to address how customers are being treated, because this was unacceptable.

    I came here with my boyfriend because I needed a couple things for my upcoming trip. I was a little nervous about going into this Sephora because I’ve seen all the negative reviews. I saw it for myself yesterday after an employee approached me with a very passive-aggressive attitude. I was looking at a makeup brush when an employee, a black woman, jump-scared me from behind and practically yelled, “Can I help you???” For some context, I had opened the box slightly (a cardboard box that could easily be closed back up.) The Makeup by Mario brush I was looking at had no display so it was not possible to see the size of it without opening the box. The brush also had plastic covering to prevent any tampering, which makes what the employee told me make even less sense. What difference would it have made if I bought the brush, didn’t like it, and returned it? After explaining to her that I was looking at the makeup brush to see the size of it since there was no display, the employee gave me a very rude attitude and was saying that I can’t touch the “live merchandise.” It felt like she was implying I was shoplifting. As a POC myself, I was taken aback by the micro-aggression. The employee did not acknowledge me at all prior to this interaction, so the attitude right off the bat threw me off. Had she asked me prior in a nicer way if I needed help, I would’ve explained to her that I wanted to see the brush. I felt like the employee had tried to embarrass me with how loud she was and I put the items I was going to purchase back and left the Sephora. I suggest not coming here and going to the Sephora in Bay Shore instead, the employees are much nicer and more helpful. To the manager of this Sephora, please train your employees to be nicer to customers.

    I visited **Sephora at Walt Whitman Shops on Valentine’s Day, and it was incredibly busy — packed wall to wall. I was trying to find someone to help me choose a perfume and honestly wasn’t having much luck at first. Then Tiffany came to the rescue — and she was absolutely amazing. She was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind despite how hectic the store was. She took the time to understand what I was looking for, showed me different options, explained the notes, and made the whole experience enjoyable instead of stressful. You can tell she truly cares about customers and loves what she does. I left with a perfume I absolutely love and a big smile on my face. Tiffany is one of the best associates I’ve met at Sephora — thank you for making my Valentine’s Day shopping such a great experience!
