I feel so validated reading the other reviews. I've visited this location 3x, and I have an account with Diptyque (love their products and scents).
The 1st and 3rd times I visited, I didn't have any makeup on, and I was dressed casually with my hair up. As soon as I entered the store, I felt such a negative and dismissive energy from the staff, who were pleasant and attentive to everyone in the store except for me. I was met with a judgmental and skeptical tone when I asked a couple questions before buying 2 candles. At check out, he seemed genuinely concerned and shocked that I even had an account with Diptyque. I remember getting teary-eyed after one of these experiences because I was made to feel like such a weirdo-loser from the interaction.
For comparison, the 2nd time I visited the store, I had a blowout, some makeup, and had my work clothes on. The difference in treatment was polar opposite, I was welcomed into the store and tended to immediately, and the staff asked questions about the kind of scents I like. They even asked for my preferences when providing the free parfum sample that comes with purchase as an account holder.
I've been hesitant to return to this store, since I typically visit Bedford Ave. in a more casual state. It's crazy that I need to factor this in when my only goal is to spend good money at an establishment that sells luxury products. :(
I will visit the store again, but I hope this attitude can change in the future to make customers feel equally appreciated, even if they don't have the "luxury look" 24/7.
