I was in a good mood and ready to make a purchase. While browsing the lotion section, I did not see a tester for Sleepy placed below the product or immediately nearby, and there was no signage indicating a different location. Based on what was visible, I briefly opened the lotion to smell it. An associate immediately intervened with “the testers are actually right here,” followed by “let’s start over,” delivered in a tone that made me feel corrected rather than welcomed as a customer. I explained the situation to the manager, who apologized, but the interaction shifted toward correcting my language rather than addressing why unclear product placement and tone resulted in a lost sale. Nice products. Clean store. I left without purchasing anything.
