After a terrible incident at Grove Spa, I decided to try several other spas in Springfield—and I quickly realized that there are many with far better quality, professionalism, and customer service than this one! This incident happened in late 2023, and to this day, it still bothers me. I am genuinely saddened to write this review because I was once a loyal customer of Grove Spa. I had been going there regularly and even recommended it to many of my friends and family, who also became customers. Unfortunately, after that experience, I will never be returning. During my last appointment, I booked a 30-minute facial. I called ahead to let them know I would be about 10 minutes late and asked if it was okay, and the person on the phone assured me that it was fine and that I would still be able to receive my treatment. When I arrived, they checked me in and had me wait for about 15 minutes—only to then tell me that I would not be able to receive my facial because I was late. I calmly explained that I had called beforehand and was told it would be fine. They responded that the staff member I spoke with was new and “didn’t know.” I found this completely unprofessional. If a spa values its customers, it should not make them suffer for an employee’s mistake. Had I been informed correctly on the phone, I would have understood and simply not come in. When I asked to reschedule, I was told I would still be charged for the missed appointment and would have to pay again for a new one. I expressed that this seemed unfair, especially considering the misunderstanding was on their end. The manager, Samantha, showed no empathy or effort to resolve the situation and had an extremely dismissive attitude, despite my calm and respectful tone. When I mentioned that I felt I was being treated unfairly and might share my experience in a review, Samantha suddenly became very upset and asked me to leave the spa. I was completely shocked. I explained that I didn’t have a car and was waiting for my sister to pick me up, but she insisted I leave immediately—even threatening to call the police if I didn’t. I left the spa in tears and waited outside for 20 minutes, feeling humiliated and deeply hurt. I have never been disrespected like that in my life. I have also never written a negative review before—my reviews are usually supportive and positive—but this experience was so painful that I felt I needed to share it. It still saddens me to think about how I was treated that day. No customer deserves to be treated this way. Since then, I’ve tried other spas, and not only are they far more professional, but they also truly respect their customers—something Grove Spa clearly failed to do It’s been a while since this has happened and I was debating whether to write a review or not cause I normally don’t write negative reviews, but I thought it was only fair

60 minute deep tissue massage. 10 minutes in, I am told the bed is broken and won't lower. She tried applying some pressure with an elbow for a very short while. She forgot to massage my right arm and hand. Half way through, she questioned who I was and when we started the massage. She then left the room to get warm towels, though I suspect she was checking her scheduling. She returned, massaged some more and then apologized about the lack of pressure due to the bed being inoperable. She finished in just under an hour. I was face down the entire time, so I never received any work on the front side of my body and on top of that, it takes about 30 minutes to regain normal vision after being face down, so that was uncomfortable for the drive home. At checkout, I used a gift card to cover a portion of mine and my wife's massage. I was told my balance and the card reader indicated that amount and requested a tip amount. Although I felt like tipping -50%, I selected 10%. It turned out to be 10% of the the total amount and not 10% of the amount shown to me on the card reader. My only major positive from this visit was a drink offered before and after the massage.
