Terrible experience. I would give negative stars if I could. I want to scream and cry every time I look in the mirror or feel my head. And this was very likely the last haircut of my life. 😢
I went in to have my hair cut off to donate to wigs for kids. They didn't wash it first. They didn't braid it or band it with several bands as the instructions for the program say. So now I don't even know if I can send it in. I only went in there because it was free if you were having it cut off to donate and I am very poor so couldn't really afford to deal with my long hair anymore. Then I get pressure to tip when I'm leaving. They should pay their employees enough that customers don't feel obligated to tip to supplement their income, especially when you're going in for a free cut so you can donate all your hair to kids with cancer. I thought they would just take it and deal with sending it in but then they told me that I have to do that and they give me some piece of paper that says I also have to pay the shipping to send it in to donate. They didn't even have a bag to put it in. They gave me an envelope and again it wasn't properly banded.
When I get home I look at the requirements on the website to send it in and I find out that they didn't follow the requirements at Great Clips. The woman only put one band on my hair before cutting it off when the instructions say to put on several and she didn't wash it first. It says the hair needs to be clean and dry when you send it in so I don't know if I can send it in now because before going in to get my haircut I was shoveling and my head got pretty sweaty. I also wanted them to wash it because this was the only haircut I ever got to get while I had long hair and I wanted it washed for the experience and for something to make me feel a little bit better. I didn't say anything when she started because I thought they had a system in place for when people come in to donate their hair but that doesn't seem to be the case. So now I will never get the experience of having my long hair washed at a salon. One reason I decided to donate it is because it's thinning so I know that I will never grow it out again, and it took like 4 year to grow out that long. I could have buzzed it down to nothing myself at home for free and I would have washed it first.
So it was a horrible experience and I don't even think I'll be able to donate my hair to give a kid a wig now. So I had to buzz down to nothing for for no actual purpose and also had to tip for it.
When I called in to tell the woman that they should figure out some standard process for this and specifically mentioned about them not washing my hair and how I was going to say something but thought they must have a system for when people donate their hair. She tells me that maybe I can try washing it myself now with it not on my head. I really don't know how I would do that and keep it banded together and not have it all just end up down the drain.
So now in my life I'll never get to experience getting my hair washed like that in a salon and dried and this was probably the last haircut of my life so I will die hating the way I look and it might have been worth it if it helped some kid with cancer get a wig and feel better about the way they look but it doesn't seem like that's going to be the case.
I feel like I was robbed of multiple things that I will never be able to get back, the experience of a salon wash & dry and also being able to donate my hair to wigs for kids. I also feel robbed of being able to like the way that I look because I liked having long hair and if I was going to get it cut and not donate it I would have gotten it cut at a different length that I might have liked. But I'm not even sure I'm going to be alive long enough to grow it out to a length that I like again.
I honestly wish I could sue them for this.

I have never made a post or review so it says a lot to make account. Absolute worst haircut I have ever had. I asked for a taper fade on the sides and to cut a little on the top. I am walking out with a buzz cut because she faded too far up. Definitely great for military personnel! That’s all they can do apparently! Btw the sides are uneven!

I started going to this Great Clips about a year ago when I moved to the area. I’ve always had great experiences until recently. About a month ago, I went to get my haircut like normal. I walk in and there is a woman I’ve never seen and I can tell she is new because she needed help with check in. I am seated with her. She has my ticket but doesn’t look at it. I explain I want “0” on the bottom and blended fade as you go up on the sides. She turns me away from the mirror so I can’t see.. she doesn’t us clippers and is trying to blend with scissors.. I’m getting nervous. Finally the manager speaks up and says you need to ask when you need help.. so wait?? Your hair stylist doesn’t know how to do a fade? And you’re calling her out like that in front of customers and you don’t ask me if it’s ok to teach on me and you have her do it anyway?? This isn’t hair school..the manager did finally finish me up.. she gave me half price..then we get to today.. a month later. I go in and the same hairstylist is at the front desk. She offers to take me. I remember the whole incident from last time but I decide to give her a chance again. Maybe 4 weeks has taught you something. For some reason, my ticket didn’t have what I do on it.. so I start explaining what I want.. I can tell she instantly becomes nervous.. she does finally blend better but then.. she starts shaving the top of my head with a 2.. what the!? I don’t ever clip my hair on top, I’ve been growing it out! I am so upset at this point I can’t talk.. I finally ask her to stop cutting my hair.. and I get up and ask the manager to finish me up.. she could clearly see I was upset. She did great and gave me a free haircut.. i am so bummed. I like my hair done a certain way.. I won’t be going back. I’ve given way too many chances.. that hairstylist needs a lot more training on how to blend and also she needs to use her voice. If you can’t do it, say so. My time was wasted and I left unhappy both times. Thank you for the free haircut, it’s appreciated and great customer service. She needs more training or needs to not take clients who request something she can’t do.
