  I came into STUDS in the Seaport really excited to get my rook pierced. The staff at the front were extremely kind and welcoming, and they told me my friend could come back with me and even hold my hand if I wanted, which made me feel comfortable. However, the experience changed once I was with the piercer. She seemed uncomfortable with my friend coming back even though the front staff had already said it was fine, and the interaction felt awkward from the start. After piercing my ear, she immediately said she wanted to redo it because it wasn’t done correctly. When I asked what was wrong, she said it was ‘shallow’ but that it would ‘probably heal,’ which made me feel really unsure and nervous about leaving jewelry in that had just been described as incorrect. Because of that uncertainty, I ended up taking the piercing out and leaving. It was disappointing to go through the pain of getting pierced and then leave without it, especially after being so excited about it. The front staff were lovely, but the piercing experience itself left me feeling uncomfortable and confused.

  I had a few piercings here about a week ago and it felt like a factory. They were very quick when I would have preferred them to slow down, do things right, let me have time to think more about the placement or ask questions. It was also very dark and cramped in the piercing room. Worst part was that while they did use a needle, I assumed they would've used ALL the proper piercing utensils including the small clamp to hold your ear in place when the needle goes in. However, they did not, they simply poked the needle through blind and hoped for the best. This meant the needle moved as it went in, and resulted in placement issues. I got two piercing and took one out immediately after as I was not happy with the placement. The other looked okay at first, but as swelling has gone down I have noticed it is a millimeter or two lower than what I would have liked. I think it is because the needle slid down my cartilage to the soft part. If they had used the clamp, as they should have, to keep it exactly in place, I think it would have been perfect. I am now debating taking out this second piercing too...but because it is almost right I'm having a hard time accepting a potential scar or mark there. Sorry but next time I'll be going to a real body shop--one that actually cares about precision. These are permanent body changes and should not be take as lightly as they take it here. If you specialize in something, than be an expert at it!!! They rely on flashy marketing and pretty jewelry, while not actually caring much about the profession of piercing.

  I had the most amazing experience, the piercing was quick and the space was very sanitary. The piercer and the person at the front were both very nice. I got a helix piercing and it’s been about a month without any problems. I don’t regret choosing this place at all.

  The staff was wonderful at this location. However, the healing process and jewelry sold by this company are less than ideal. This is not my first time with unique piercings and body jewelry. The ear piercing took abnormally long to heal and the jewelry I purchased consistently infects the area. Any other jewelry I use does not bother the piercing I received at this Studs. I am not impressed considering the price point of the earring I chose. I would not recommend purchasing their products.

  The customer service that Studs offers is consistently great! I would recommend this location and the other location in Boston for piercing appointments and jewelry changes. Yay!
