My first visit to this business was excellent, which is why I chose to return multiple times. However, despite requesting the therapist from my initial visit on three separate occasions, I was consistently told she was not working on those days.
During my more recent visits, I was treated by the same therapist each time. While I initially overlooked some concerns due to limited communication, my most recent appointment was particularly disappointing. As a licensed massage therapist and licensed Cosmetologist myself, I have a clear understanding of proper technique, communication, and client care, and this experience did not meet those standards.
Throughout multiple sessions, I experienced ongoing discomfort with how my arms were handled. When lying face down, the Therapist liked my arm hanging down off the table. I would occasionally move my hands to the table beside my body because they were becoming numb. I communicated this to the therapist as she would get irritated with me and tell me arms down. At times I would switch arm positions depending on the side she was working on. Despite this, she repeatedly asked to reposition my arms against my preference, often “fighting” to keep them in a specific place rather than accommodating my comfort.
Additionally, she frequently dropped my arms and legs instead of gently placing them back onto the table, which felt careless and unprofessional. Its also quite disturbing to someone who's eyes are closed and attempting to relax.
When it was time to turn over during the session, there was no assistance with proper draping. The towel was not lifted or adjusted, and I was left to manage it myself while trying to avoid unnecessary exposure. Before I was fully turned over, she swatted my thigh and told me “scoot over,” which felt abrupt and unprofessional. The overall demeanor, lack of communication, and handling throughout the session left me feeling uneasy.
I strongly considered ending the massage early due to these concerns, but since the session was nearly complete, I chose to finish it.
At checkout, I was asked if I would like to leave a tip. I agreed and provided a modest tip of $3. The therapist’s reaction was visibly negative with a disgusted look on her face and she asked me to leave more. I responded that I could instead make it $0, as I felt uncomfortable with that request.
She then brought over another staff member, to whom I explained my concerns regarding the therapist’s behavior. I was offered additional massage time to compesate. When I hesitated, but I agreed. However, shortly after returning to the room, there appeared to be a disagreement between staff members. I could hear raised voices, though I could not understand what was being said. This situation increased my anxiety, and I ultimately decided to get dressed and leave rather than continue the service.
When I returned to the front, I asked if that therapist was the only one available. I was told there were other therapists, including the manager. I explained that I had consistently been scheduled with the same individual despite my requests otherwise, and that I would prefer not to continue receiving services from her.
Unfortunately, due to this experience, I will not be returning.
