I’ve been coming here, going to the same stylist (Morgan) for 11 years and have always been so impressed. I recently got cute little bangs from one of the other girls here (Clare) who LOVES cutting bangs and I loved it! It’s nice to try new styles with other artists while staying loyal to your stylist- there are a lot of other places where that is frowned on or flat out not allowed. Willow and Birch shows that they are a sisterhood of stylist 🤍

I'm new in town and just now getting to a place where I can start to build my network of people and businesses and services. I've had the pleasure of visiting Willow & Birch twice in two weeks. My first visit was with Meghan. She was a little late because she was giving her client before me her undivided attention, patience and consideration. How do I know this? Because she gave me the same. How can I be mad about that? I visited Meghan on a Wednesday. She isn't in on Saturdays. The problem: I asked for the wrong thing. I really needed to cut my hair super short. I didn't go far enough. So I called for a second cut. This time, I got an appointment on Saturday morning. Sidnee was my style person. As with Meghan, she was caring, patient and so focused on doing exactly what I wanted. We had a lot of fun. Also, Saturday mornings in Downtown Springfield IL are so much easier than weekday afternoons. I highly recommend these two lovely women if you're thinking of giving W & B a try. I'm pretty sure, however, that your experience will be stellar no matter with whom your appointment is scheduled. I get a sense that the owner is really careful about hiring to culture as much as to abilities. This is the gold standard both for employees and clients. People who feel belonging in their company tend to be more invested in the quality of work they do. Here are a couple other reasons to give them a try: the place is GORGEOUS. You enter on the Washington street side, across from the old Capitol building. There's a little boutique in the back that was definitely decorated by someone with talent. The front is a little store. There are soft drinks down the hall. You go up the elevator to get to the salon. Oh. The. Elevator. Magazine ads from the 40s, 50s, etc. make up the hand-curated wallpaper in the elevator. You know, from back when salons and spas were called "Beauty Parlors". Brilliant. It's an experience. I'm also a little sad when it's time to get out. Oh. The. Salon. There are a lot of stylist stations up there. Lots of room to browse magazines, wait for your stylist, sit and percolate with your color or whatever. It's beautiful. And then there's the shampoo room. This room is designed for relaxation: low lighting, meditation music, calming decor and colors. The rule is that we need to keep our voices down in the Shampoo Room. But if we're the only ones there, then it's a little moot. This is not your typical salon shampoo. Your stylist will take their time, providing a short scalp massage, event paying a bit of attention to your neck. You can schedule an actual massage. I haven't yet; but I'm planning to. If you're like me and feel like the shampoo is the best part of getting a haircut, you'll walk out of that room with a big smile on your face. This is brilliant in so many ways: client experience, stylist level-up and career growth, and marketing. It's unique and necessary. This is my hair place and these are my hair people now. Pretty sure I'll end up being friends with one or two folks from that shop.

I had such a great experience at Willow & Birch! I went in wanting a buttery blonde and Madyson got my hair to the exact color I wanted! She also gave me a scalp treatment and recommended products to help protect my hair! I definitely recommend!!

Pic 1 was what I asked for. Pic 2 is what I got. It’s actually more like three haircuts in 1. One side is all one length, one side is layered and the back looks like a badger gnawed on my hair. 14 inches off, which I wanted, to mom haircut, which I did not. Reagan is a lovely girl but attempted a cut beyond her skill level instead of telling me she couldn’t do it and referring me to someone who could. She did not show me the back before I left. The owner responded graciously to my complaint and offered to try to fix it but since low skill stylists clearly have no supervision I don’t feel confident in their judgment.

I came here about a year ago and loved it so much I refused to go to any other hair salon! Even though my hair was MUCH longer than I would've preferred, I only wanted to come here because Willow & Birch is so far the only salon I felt truly comfortable getting my hair cut at, so I saved up some money and booked Sydnee. Prices vary based on stylist, but I definitely got my money's worth and more! On top of that, Sydnee didn't charge for the extra time fee that I signed up for, despite us going 15mins over what would've been expected had I not signed up for the extra time (the extra time would have added 30mins), which was a pleasant surprise. Everyone is super nice and I highly recommend! Pictures below, the first one about 1hr after I got it cut (and washed it), 2nd one the day after, censored for privacy. The color was already in my hair. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!!
