Based on what I went through, I strongly recommend that anyone who does not want to face hostility or humiliation for a paid haircut should avoid Great Clips. On the afternoon of August 16, 2025, I visited the Great Clips shop at Kapolei Commons, 4459 Kapolei Parkway, Ste 102, Kapolei, Hawaii. I asked Krista to cut my hair. She assured me she knew how to do the “Gentleman” cut I requested, explaining that she was the shop manager with seven years of experience. However, when she finished and asked if I was satisfied, I looked in the mirror and saw that my hair was nothing like the style I had asked for. The top was cut far too short, and the sides were uneven. I pointed this out to her, but instead of addressing my concern, she simply walked away without explanation. After a short wait, another barber approached and asked me to move to her chair. When I asked what was happening, she told me that Krista “was a little uncomfortable.” I explained again that I wanted a “Gentleman” cut. She said she could only try to fix it as best as possible. After a few minutes, she asked me to check the mirror. At that point, a third barber, who unrelentingly told me upon request her name was Ginny, came over and, in a harsh tone, ordered me to “make a payment and leave” because I was “not welcome.” Her attitude was aggressive and dismissive. Shocked, I asked what I had done wrong. She claimed I did not “appreciate their service.” Can anyone imagine this? A customer pays for a haircut, gets a style completely different from what was requested, and then—just for pointing it out—is told to leave mid-service because the staff felt “unappreciated.” Has anyone else ever experienced something this ridiculous?
