Melvin is the best. He listens, asks the right questions, and never rushes through anything. My color always looks fresh and natural, and he keeps the cut looking great even as it grows out. He is consistent every time which is rare to find. The salon is always calm and he makes the whole appointment feel easy. I trust him completely with my hair and I recommend him to anyone who wants someone who actually pays attention and cares about the result.

I have been going to Joe at J Salon and Phil’s Barber Shop for a long time, and this last cut was a big change for me. I had always worn my hair short, then decided to grow it out for several months. By the time I walked in it was pretty wild, and I joked that I looked like Tina Turner in the 80s. For what I actually wanted, I showed Joe a photo of Kieron Moore, who plays Nicholas on the Netflix series BOOTS. It is a clean, slicked back look, and I asked if we could get somewhere in that zone with my hair. Because I had always worn my hair short, he reminded me that this kind of cut would need to be styled and asked if I was sure that was what I wanted. Joe is the owner and lead stylist. He has been cutting hair for decades and trained with Vidal Sassoon. He studies your hair and plans the cut. Nothing feels rushed or random. He looked at the photo, looked at my hair, and then asked a few quick questions. The end result is exactly what I was hoping for. It is clean, sharp, and easy to wear. I can slick it back or wear it a little softer, and it still looks intentional. What I really appreciated is that he did not just cut it and send me on my way. Joe took the time to show me how to style it properly, step by step, including what product to use and how much. That extra ten minutes makes a huge difference when I am at home trying to recreate it. The shop is bright, clean, and comfortable, but Joe is the reason I keep coming back. He is a true master at his craft. I am really happy with this new look.

Scarlett listens to what I want done and has fixed my hair from previous disasters at other salons. Friendly greeting when you walk in and throughout the visit.

Had the most horrible experience with Ari. I have really long thick Curly hair. If you have anything but normal-thin hair I would not suggest her. From the very beginning she insulted my hair and was like “GREATTTT… long curly hair” as the process went on she became more and more childish. She walked away several times trying to pawn the blow drying off on another stylist. During the hair washing process I tried to help her take my hair tie out when I noticed her struggling and she pushed my hands off and insisted on doing it herself. She continued to struggle…. From the very beginning of our introduction I explained that I was aware that my hair was tricky and that I would absolutely help her with brushing it. My hair does get matted and I have a pretty quick routine of getting it out without breaking the hair. During the wash she starts brushing my hair and I hear my hairs SNAPPING. I said please don’t do that I will help you. With an attitude she says “ IF I NEED HELP I WILL LET YOU KNOW” I explained that she was being aggressive and breaking my hair and that I don’t do that. I offered to stand during my appointment and she was like “ GIRL, YES ABSOLUTELY YOU’RE GONNA HAVE TO STAND” Her face and attitude was so rude, I was offering to be as helpful as possible and she just kept with the unnecessary attitude. I asked her to cut one long layer in my hair and she just cut it straight across. Absolutely zero style to it now. I was so ready to run out of there by the time it was over. I really don’t think she’s ready for “level 2”. The fact that she will not work with the client and really listen and will fight you the entire way is just sad. I was so shocked when she fought me on taking my hair tie out. Seems controlling and not ready to service the public unless the conditions are absolutely perfect for her. It’s never about you, it’s always about the client.
