  I went in for an eyebrow waxes and left with an injury near my eye. The area was clearly burned during the service, and I have photo documentation showing that it has progressively worsened since the appointment. During the appointment, I immediately felt that my eyebrows were not being handled with care. The waxing was unusually fast and significantly more painful than any wax I’ve received in my life — and I’ve been getting my eyebrows waxed for years. It was over much quicker than normal, and the pulling felt harsh compared to my past experiences. When I contacted the salon to address the injury, I was repeatedly told it was not a burn but a “skin tear,” and that there was “no way to pull hair with care.” I was also told it couldn’t be a burn because the technician has worked there for 10 years. That response felt dismissive and invalidating. Experience does not make someone incapable of making a mistake. I was hoping for accountability and concern, but instead I felt gaslighted throughout the conversation. Regardless of experience level, client safety and proper handling should always come first. Unfortunately, this situation was not handled professionally.
