I asked for a simple trim — nothing fancy. What I got instead was a jagged, uneven, post-apocalyptic interpretation of what once resembled human hair. The stylist (let’s call her “Edward Scissorhands on a sugar crash”) seemed to wield the clippers like she was in a timed competition. I swear I heard the theme from Jaws playing in the background as she approached my head. When it was done, she spun me around to face the mirror. I stared into the void. The void stared back — and it had a crooked hairline and sideburns from two different centuries. Now I wear hats. Indoors. At night. In the shower. Thanks, Great Clips, for giving me the kind of haircut that makes people look twice — and not in a good way.
