I called the day before to schedule a couples massage for my husband and me. We had considered going to The NOW Massage before but had gone elsewhere previously, so we decided to give them a try this time. I scheduled the appointment over the phone with Sienna and clearly stated that it was for a couples massage hence same price same time same day nothing told me other wise.
She offered us a membership option where we would pay $90 each instead of $125, and since my husband regularly needs massages, we agreed to sign up for one membership with the understanding that it could be canceled at any time. I also informed them that I am pregnant and added additional services, including the eye refresh and scalp massage for myself, as well as three add-on services for my husband (two of which were included). Everything seemed fine during the booking process.
However, things went downhill when we arrived. My husband was taken back without me, which immediately raised concern because we had scheduled a couples massage. I spoke with Lauren at the front desk, and she informed me that they do not offer couples massages at that location. This was extremely frustrating because I had specifically requested a couples massage when booking, and Sienna accepted my deposit, scheduled us, and discussed the membership without ever mentioning that couples massages were not available.
Lauren explained that they do not have a room large enough for couples massages, but by that point, we had already arrived, paid a deposit, and my husband had already been taken back. Instead of offering a sincere apology or a solution, her first response was to ask if I wanted to cancel my service. That felt very dismissive, especially considering the inconvenience and confusion caused by their staff.
The back-and-forth conversation cut into my massage time, and while they removed one small add-on service ($10–$15), it did not make up for the poor experience. My interaction with Lauren was particularly disappointing. Rather than taking ownership of the situation, she repeatedly said it was not her fault and blamed her coworker. She also mentioned speaking with the manager, Kaitlin, but no meaningful resolution was offered.
My husband later shared that his massage did not feel like the quality we are used to—he described it as more like someone rubbing his skin rather than providing a true therapeutic massage. On the other hand, my massage therapist herself was great, but unfortunately, my session was shortened due to the administrative issues at the front desk.
We came in expecting a relaxing experience, especially as a pregnant client seeking stress relief, but instead the visit started off stressful and disappointing. We ultimately decided to cancel the membership and pay the full price of $280 for the services. Lauren informed me that the $90 deposit would be refunded “fast,” but she could not clearly explain the processing time.
It has now been several hours, and we have not received any email confirmation of the membership cancellation, refund, or final receipt.
Lauren clearly needs additional training in customer service, as her responses consistently escalated the situation instead of helping resolve it. This experience left a very poor impression, and unfortunately, we will not be returning. I will also be escalating this matter to corporate for further review.
I had a wonderful experience at The Now. My massage therapist, Lourdes, was warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout the session. She provided a thoughtful, customized massage, checking in to ensure the pressure and temperature were just right. I left feeling deeply relaxed, refreshed, and completely pain-free. The spa itself is beautiful, and the ambiance is perfect for clearing your mind.
