Please do yourself a favour and DO NOT GO TO THIS NAIL SPOT. My strong, beautiful, long natural nails are absolutely ruined by this place 😭 I booked a hair appointment at the hair spot they’re partnered with, and they upsold a manicure to be done chair-side while I was getting my hair done. I didn’t really need one, but I thought it would be a quick & easy way to feel like I’m being pampered. Boy was I wrong, and I have so much regret adding this “service”. I showed up and had to get my manicure first, which I was flexible about until it ended up being a horrible, painful manicure that lasted an entire hour!! Keep in mind I had a mani a few weeks prior, had no polish on, and didn’t want any. The man doing my nails, Peter, immediately told me he prefers doing long nails because he makes more money. At first I thought he was joking, but he referred to making money too many times for it to be a joke. He then bragged about how much he’s earned in tips. It was a little gauche. 😬 He tried the classic cheap nail salon tactics of trying to upsell me with add ons and polish and pedicures, and I had to tell him numerous times that I’m here for my HAIR APPOINTMENT. Like hurry up and just clean up my nails??! Very early on he cut the skin on my pinky finger and it was SO painful and bloody. I still have a gross blood scar from this 😭 All I could think about was that I need to get home and clean this wound ASAP before it gets infected from this place. I only wanted a quick mani with no polish. When I was “done” I asked for a buff to make them shiny, but instead scratched the absolute hell out of them!! He told me it was his first time buffing so he wasn’t sure how to do it. WHAT?! He kept trying to convince me to use polish to cover it up. How many times do you have to tell them that you do 👏🏼 not 👏🏼 want 👏🏼 polish? He had 3 different nail ladies come over to help instruct him; one of them completely took over and removed SO much more cuticle that had been left and she also buffed more of my nails off to try to get the scratches out. Note that this is still filing the nails so they became even more thin. In the end I lied and said they were fine just so I could gtfo of there. They still charged me $30 for this. Within 2 days ALL of my nails broke because they were so thin and brittle. I cannot believe it. My poor poor nails. Steer clear.

Love coming to Harbor Nail and Hair. Always so friendly, professional and pleasant. Kim does my finger nails with dip and Helen my gel pedicures. They always do a beautiful job. Their stations are always kept clean and they are very conscience of sterilizing their tools. Always a wonderful experience. I look forward to visiting Harbor Nail and Hair each month.

Michelle (and Peter) have both done my nails and are amazing. I’m fairly picky- she always talk to me about what I want to ensure we have a good plan going into it, check in along the way and often. She is also extremely efficient and the prices are fair. I usually do dip nails with an almond shape, and on feet I do a regular pedi. Michelle is very talented!

Frequently Asked Questions About Harbor Nails

What is the difference between acrylic and dipping powder?

Acrylic nails are a traditional form of artificial nails known for their durability. Dipping powder, on the other hand, contains vitamins and minerals that can help strengthen the natural nail bed.

What is the difference between gel manicure and basic manicure?

A gel manicure offers longer-lasting polish, typically up to two weeks, and dries instantly. It also provides added strength to the nails while applied. A basic manicure requires drying time and may be prone to smudging.
