UPDATE: I had originally given 1 star for my 1st experience here back in March 2026; however, Tammy the Salon Leader gave me a 5 star experience today! Tammy went above and beyond to make things right! She is so kind and ensured that I would feel welcomed. She listened to what I wanted and made helpful suggestions. Tammy is knowledgeable and truly great at all she does! As long as Tammy is here, I fully intend to return!!!
Original Review:
I debated writing this review and slept on it before deciding to share my experience. Unfortunately, this was both my first and last visit to Hair Cuttery in Deerfield Beach.
I booked an appointment specifically with Angela after researching salons in the area and seeing many positive reviews about her. I scheduled a deep conditioning treatment and blowout before a vacation and even left work early to arrive on time.
When I arrived, I was asked to wait while she finished with another client. While waiting, another stylist told me she would wash my hair and then I would go to Angela for the blowout. After my hair was washed, however, I was seated at that stylist’s station instead. When I asked if I would be going to Angela next, I was told, “Angela didn’t want to take you, so I said I would.” Angela was sitting at the front but never acknowledged or spoke to me. As a brand-new client, that was extremely uncomfortable. Had my hair not already been soaking wet, I would have left.
I remained poised, polite, and respectful the entire time. I assumed there may have been a misunderstanding and kept trying to give the benefit of the doubt. I appreciated the other stylist stepping in, but the experience continued to feel frustrating. I explained that my hair absorbs hairspray easily and asked her not to overdo it—I simply wanted my hair to look and feel soft and shiny, especially since I came in specifically for a deep conditioning treatment and blowout. Despite that, a large amount of product was used. Not to mention, she almost used a clarifying shampoo that would have stripped the color from my hair! Ironically, she mentioned she had been there for 22 years and had won awards, yet I still felt like my concerns weren’t being heard.
There was also very little transparency around pricing. When I booked, I was quoted $58 for the service. Once my hair was already wet, I was told it would be $20 more due to my hair length—something that was never mentioned when booking. Then at checkout I was also charged $24 for the curling iron styling. It wasn’t necessarily the price itself that bothered me, but the fact that these charges were communicated only after the service had already begun.
In the end, I spent $208 at Hair Cuttery Deerfield Beach (including products the stylist encouraged me to buy) only to have to rewash my hair less than 24 hours later because it felt so dry and stiff—almost like straw.
Another moment that stood out: while I was getting my hair done, a walk-in client came in and sat waiting for quite a while. Angela was at the front but didn’t acknowledge him. Eventually the stylist working on my hair pointed out that he was a walk-in and asked if Angela could take him since she was the only one not currently with a client. Angela accepted the walk-in appointment—even though I had originally been scheduled with her—and still never once acknowledged me.
Shortly after, the new district leader happened to walk in to tour the salon, so Angela suddenly appeared busy. Perhaps if the salon owner had been present the experience may have been different, but I can’t say for sure.
The biggest issues here were the lack of communication, transparency, and professionalism. Clients deserve clear communication about both services and pricing—especially when they book ahead and trust a salon with their hair, time, and money.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Hair Cuttery Deerfield Beach.
